Abstract
A purposely formed tray that allows a chopping board relevant to the type of foodstuff to be chopped or cut, to rest on a central and raised platform 5 that has a rough surface. A trough is formed by the vertical sides of the platform, the trays base and the three vertical sides of the tray which holds and contains the waste produce during and after chopping or cutting. All corners 3 within the trough are rounded in order to stop any waste produce from lodging and in order to smoothly dispose of the waste. The three vertical sides of the tray are of a height that inhibits and directs flying foodstuff produced when chopping, into the trough, and a spatula, formed to the shape of the trough, removes the waste smoothly.

CHEF'S CHOPPING TRAY
DESCRIPTION AM) BACKGROUND
This invention relates to the control of waste foodstuff when chopping or cutting.
When fresh food or meat is cut or chopped on a chopping board, small items of the waste produce can unintentionally spread and contsminate the surrounding work surfaces or floor and any larger items of waste will have to be removed in order to continue working.
Transferring the waste produce to a waste container while working or when finished can lead to small items of foodstuff being left on the surrounding work surfaces or being dropped to the floor leading to possible cross contamination when other foodstuff is prepared, or the attraction of vermin to the area.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a purposely formed tray that allows a chopping board relevant to the foodstuff to be chopped or cut, to rest on a central raised platform surrounded on three sides by a trough formed by the raised chopping platform and the three vertical sides of the tray. The fourth side has no vertical section only a lip at the base to contain any liquid waste and when using the spatula provided it allows the easy transference of all the waste to an appropriate container. The open side faces the user when the tray is used.
The raised sides of the tray are of a height to contain any flying waste produce when chopping or cutting foodstuff and to direct it into the trough. Larger waste produce is pushed directly into the trough with the operator's knife or a similar utensil to obtain a clear working area when cutting or chopping further foodstuff on the same chopping board or in order to change the board to one suitable to the next foodstuff to be prepared. When the trough is full the chopping board is removed and the contained foodstuff within the tray is transported to a waste container for controlled disposal.
The tray is to be supplied in sizes suitable for a domestic or commercial kitchen.
Preferably the waste produce is transferred to the waste container from the tray using the spatula provided.
Preferably the raised platform has a rough surface to allow a chopping board to grip.
Preferably chopping boards are changed to suit the foodstuff being processed.
CHEF'S CHOPPING TRAY
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The tray can be fonned from pressed polyethylene to suit colour coded chopping boards, or from other plastics material, metal or wood or any combinations of these materials, to the shape shown in Figure 1. A spatula 1 formed with the same material as the tray is shown in Figure 1 and in a position it would be in when removing waste from the trough. The trough formed by the raised chopping board platform 5, the tray's base and the vertical sides of the tray, has rounded corners 3 to stop waste produce being lodged. One side of the tray has no vertical side and is open to allow easy disposal of waste produce at two exits, and a curved lip 2 is at its base in order to contain liquid waste. The raised platform 4 has a rough surface to allow the chopping board used to grip in position. The tray will be supplied in sizes suitable for domestic and commercial kitchens.

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWINGS
An example of the invention is now described by referring to the accompanying drawings on page 3.
Figure 1 shows a general three dimensional view of the tray without a chopping board in place but with the spatula in a position it would be in when used.
Figure 2 shows a plan view of the tray with sectional views depicting the trough formed by the platform and the three vertical sides of the tray. A-A and B-B.
Figure 3 shows a side view of the tray.
