Abstract
A protective guard 1 made from shock absorbing EVA foam 2 that is attached to the leg of the user. The guard may be attached to the leg of the user via a stretch nylon fabric 3 or Velcro (RTM) strap. The guard covers the rear of the lower leg and is preferably positioned below the calf muscle and above the ankle joint to protect the achilles tendon and soleus muscle from injuries while playing football or other sports games or activities. Preferably the shock absorbing EVA foam 2guard is attached to a high density ventilated shell 1.

Leg Protection Guard This invention relates to a device to help protect the rear of the lower leg of a football player and can also be used by sportspersons in other sports.
When football players are playing football under the rules of the game they have to wear shin guards to protect the shins. However no protection is worn to protect the rear of the lower leg which is often injured when the player is tackled from behind.
To overcome this the present invention proposes a protection guard that is worn over the rear of the lower leg to help to protect this area. This device could also be worn for protection in other sports and sporting activities.
The invention would be available in various sizes to cover varying age groups to help protect the area of the rear of the leg between the calf muscle and above the heel.
The protective shell of the guard can be attached to a either a stretched nylon type fabric or by way of a Velcro strap.
The protection guard will help protect the Achilles tendon and soleus muscle when the wearer is participating in football and various sporting games and activities.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the rear view of a lower leg protection guard as would be worn on each leg according to the invention Figure 2 shows the side view of a lower leg protection guard attached to a fabric as would be worn on each leg according to the invention.
Figure 3 shows the front view of a lower leg protection guard as would be worn on each leg according to the invention.
In figure 1, the rear of the lower leg protection guard is shown from the rear view offering protection to the Achilles tendon and soleus muscle. The high density ventilated shell number I with shock absorbing EVA foam number 2 is fitted to a stretch fabric number 3 and pulled over the foot until it is positioned below the calf muscle and above the heel. The shell can also be attached to the leg by way of Velcro instead of the stretch nylon.
In figure 2, the rear of the lower leg protection guard is shown from the side view offering protection to the Achilles tendon and soleus muscle. The high density ventilated shell number I with shock absorbing EVA foam number 2 is fitted to a stretch fabric number 3 and pulled over the feet until it is positioned below the calf muscle and above the heel. The shell can also be attached to the leg by way of Velcro instead of the stretch nylon.
In figure 3, the rear of the lower leg protection guard offering protection to the Achilles tendon and soleus muscle is shown from the front view and shows where the stretch fabric number 3 is worn on the front of the lower leg below the calf muscle and above the heel. The high density ventilated shell number I with shock absorbing EVA foam number 2 is only partly visible from this view. The shell can also be attached to the leg by way of Velcro instead of the stretch nylon.

- Claims A high density protection guard padded with a shock absorbingEVA foam and attached to either a stretch nylon fabric or by way of a Velcro strap, the shell of the guard covers the rear of the lor leg fitting below the calf muscle and above the ankle joint to help protect the achilles tendon and soleus muscle from injuries sustained while playing football and other sporting games and activities.
