Abstract

A device is disclosed for simulating the light emission of a television to give the impression premises are occupied at night, in order to deter burglars. The device comprises a power supply to convert the local mains supply to 6 V, a voltage regulator to supply the electronics, and a programmable PIC controller running a program. The programmable PIC controller switches on transistors which switch power to an array of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The device is activated by a light dependant resistor controlling an electronic switch that only activates in low level ambient light when the light emitted by the unit would be viewable.

Description

Television Light emission Simulator
Description of the Unit
The unit has been designed to simulate the light emitted by a colour television This unit is to give the impression that premises arc ocazpicd and someone is watchingtelevjsjonandasit isportable. canbeused inanyroomorareathatcan viewed from outside via a window. Therefbre deterring would be bugiers from entering the building.
The unit has the benefit over a television in that it consumes vely little power and is sa1 than leaving a television on whilst away from the premises. It onies on only when it becomes dark and evening falls being activated by its internal LDR switch.
It can be enhanced by plugging the unit into the mains supply via a timer should user sowislE
Unit Specifications
1. The units power supply requirements are 6 -9V DC. This can be supplied via a transfbrincr from 110 -240V mains AC supply.
2. The light soince is a series of high output coloured LEDs.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIM
Title: Television Light Emission Simulator The device is designed using high brightness LEDs and an electronic control circuit to simulate the light output from a coloured television source. To be used as a deterrent to anybody wishing to enter the premises with criminal intent. With the device installed, this will imply that someone is occupying the premises watching television during the hours of darkness.
