Abstract
A tool for the aid of guiding wires, cables and tubes etc through holes, for example holes in cavity walls, by the application of a temporary magnetic attachment, screwed or other, to the end of the wire, cable, tube etc, and retrieved with the use of a magnetic rod or a rod which will attract a magnet.
Description
DESCRIPTION
MAGNETIC CABLING AID
The invention relates to a tool which assists in the retrieval of wires/cables and tubes etc through holes.
When a hole is drilled through a wall, floor, ceiling or any material where there can be a void or cavilty between the two ends of the hole with the intention of threading a wire, cable or tube etc through. It can be very time consuming to retrieve the wire, cable or tube etc at the other end of the hole.
An object of the invention is to ensure that the wire, cable or tube etc is retrieved quicker than trying to guide it through without any aids.
This invention is a tool which helps retrieve wires, cables and tubes etc through a variety of holes in wails, floors ceilings or any material where there can be blind spots and void spaces, by the application of a magnetic attatchment which is temporarily secured (scewed of otherwise attatched) onto wires, cables and tubes etc. The magnetic attatchment which is temporarily secured onto the wire, cable or tube etc is retrieved using a magnetic rod with opposite polarity or a rod which will attract a magnet.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:-Figure 1 shows a 3 dimensional view of the temporary attachment (screwed or otherwise fixed).
Figure 2 shows a side view of the retrieving rod.
Figure 3 shows an end elevation of the rod.
As shown in Figure 1, the temporary attachment comprises of a tube, c, complete with a partially encased magnet, b, and fixing attachment (screw thread or other), a.
Figure 2 shows the rod comprising of a circular shaft,d, complete with a magnet or magnetic material, e.
The invention is used thus. The attachment shown in Figure 1 is attached (possibly screwed) onto the end of the wire, cable or tube etc. The attachment complete with wire, I)5C,QlP1O(" C(oNI).
cable or tube etc is inserted into one end of a pre-drilled hole. The retrieving rod is inserted into the other end of the hole. The magnet (which must be opposing polarity to the magnetic temporary attachment) or magnetic material will attract the temporary attachment, thus forming a connection. This will mean the temporary attachment complete with wire, cable or tube etc can be pulled through the hole by simply pulling (removing) the retrieving rod.
Claims (1)
- A tool to help retrieve wires, cables and tubes etc through a variety of holes which could include blind spots and voids (example cavity walls) by the application of a magnetic attachment which temporarily attaches (screwed or other) onto wires, cables and tubes etc. The magnetic attachment complete with wire, cable or tube etc is retrieved with the use of a magnetic rod with opposing polarity or a rod which will attract a magnet.
