Abstract

A mobile telephone application that logs the duration of telephone calls made and counts the number of text messages made from the handset so as the user of the handset can monitor the duration of their calls and the number of text messages made in order to allow them to monitor the monthly allowance provided to them by their service provider and also to enable the user to reset the monitor when their monthly allowance has either been reached or reset due to monthly billing.

Description

Mobile Phone Application The invention relates to an application for
mobile telephones that logs the time spent on telephone calf s.
At the moment there is no functionality in mobile telephones to help the user track the usage of their monthly free telephone calls or text messaging allowance. The user can either go onto the mobile phone operator's website to track their allowance or calf the customer services of their telecoms provider but this is not possible all the time as well as the telecoms operator not guaranteeing any decisions made by the user from the information they have been given through their website, resulting in the user going over their allowance and incurring extra call charges when they think they have allowance remaining.
The purpose of this invention is to provide an application that resides on the mobile telephone which allows instant access to the information regarding the duration and type of telephone calls and number of text messages made.
Accordingly, this invention provides an application by which the user can enter their monthly calls and text messages allowance so that they keep within their monthly call allowance stipulated by the contract from the telecoms provider.
The application may also have the ability to rollover' minutes and text messages pursuant to the users contract with the service provider.
The application will be programmed from a language capable of operating with the varying degrees of mobile telephone operating systems.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows an example layout of the Main Menu Screen for the application FIGURE 2 shows an example layout of the Setup Screen for the application FIGURE 3 shows an example layout of the Setup Screen for the application tailored to a theoretical contract FIGURE 4 shows an example layout of the Remaining Allowance Screen for the application FIGURE 5 shows an example layout of the Reset Allowance Screen As shown in Figure 1, the Main Menu Screen will allow the user to navigate to the various screens and to exit the application.
As shown in Figure 2, the Setup Screen is where the user will specify what types of calls are included in their monthly allowance, the number of minutes and text messages, allow them to group different call types together depending on the nature of their contract with the telecoms provider and to select if these minutes rollover to the next billing period. The user will then select continue to save the changes or back to return to the main menu.
Figure 3 shows the layout of the screen if different call types are included in the user's contract as the application will only require one field in which to receive the number of minutes for the group of call types.
FIgure 4 shows the layout of the screen where the user can see the remaining minutes and text messages of their call allowance. The layout will be tailored to meet the criteria selected by the user in the Setup Screen.
Figure 5 shows the layout of the Reset Allowance Screen, this is where once the user has reached their monthly call allowance it will enable them to reset it back to zero. If the allowance has not been reached the user will be prompted with a confirmation message when they select continue. Selecting the back option will take the user back to the main menu.
