Abstract

A cabinet or box is made of a steel outer casing and is intended for the secure storage of differing sized gas bottles. Unauthorized internal access to the box and contents is prevented by a set of stocks which can be slid into position and are locked when the box is closed. If these stocks get removed forcibly, there is a secondary set of stocks, which are pinned at both sides of the box. A ratchet strap ensures that the bottle(s) cannot be lifted out from the top of the box and access is only obtainable through the door. The cabinet has captive hinges that prevent forcible entry via the door. The box is also made of stainless steel plates to prevent drilling at the lock point side.

<p>Gas Bottle Security Box This invention relates to the secure storage of gas bottles.</p>

<p>Standard types of gas boxes are often designed merely for the storage of gas bottles; they rarely take into account the various issues that can arise in the event of unauthonsed access to the box. As a result, movement of the gas bottles from these boxes are relatively easy allowing any person to tamper with the bottles.</p>

<p>To overcome this problem, the newly invented Gas Bottle Security Box is designed for the secure storage of multiple sized gas bottles. It has an open top that can accommodate various types of connections for gas bottles. The gas bottle is shrouded by a set of stocks (Drawing Page l&2-A) where it exits the box; to prevent access to the box internally. As a result, the stocks are locked in position when the door is closed. The bottle is clamped in place using a Ratchet strap (Drawing Page 1-C) to ensure that it cannot be lifted out from the top of the box. The dimensions of the box remain unaltered while the stocks can be changed to meet individual gas box sizes and shapes.</p>

<p>The outer casing is manufactured using a 6mm steel plate and is designed to bolt down to a concrete wall, against the wall. The door has 3 external hinges (Drawing Page 2-D) with captive angles that clamp internally, so that the door cannot be opened if the hinges are removed.</p>

<p>There are 2 No. Locks WD Rim DEADLOCK TYPE (Drawing Page l-E) with welded escutcheons at the lock point to prevent drilling into the lock point side. An additional set of stocks (Drawing Page 1-B) act as secondary preventative if the first set of stocks does get removed forcibly. These stocks are pinned to both sides of the box to prevent the box from being prized open. As a matter of fact, access to the ratchet strap is only obtainable through the door.</p>
