Abstract
The invention relates to a thermal magnetic therapy device. The device has a device body 2, a magnet 5 supported by the device body, an electrical heating element 6 for the magnet, and means such as battery 7 to deliver electrical power to the heating element. In use the device body being positioned part of a body requiring therapy and said heating element improving the magnetic strength of the magnet. The device may also have an electric light source 9 which can radiate through aperture 3a. A switch 8 may turn-on both the heating element 6 and light 9.

Title: Thermal Magnetic Therapy Device The present invention relates to a thermal magnetic therapy device.
It is known to use magnets as a potential therapy for many ailments. Magnets are moved over areas of the body which require treatment, and many people find this process has healing qualities.
The invention seeks to provide an improved magnetic therapy device.
According to the present invention there is provided a thermal magnetic therapy device comprising:
a) a device body,
b) a magnet supported by the device body,
c) an electrical heating element for said magnet, and d) means to deliver electrical power to said heating element,
in use the device body being positioned part of a body requiring therapy and said heating element improving the magnetic strength of the magnet.
Preferably a light source is provided in the device body to radiate light from the device.
Preferably the magnet is supported at one end of the device. Preferably the light source radiates light from said one end of the device.
Preferably the device further comprises a cap to cover the magnet when the device is not in use.
Preferably the device is shaped to be hand held. The device body may be generally tubular. The tubular body may be "pen shaped".
Preferably a battery is provided in the device to power the heating element and any light source.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows a perspective view, and Figure 2 shows a cross-section view of Figure 1.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, there is shown a thermal magnetic therapy device 1. Device 1 has a hand-held pen-shaped tubular body 2. Tubular body 2 has a reduced diameter projection 3 at one end to receive a protective cap 4.
A magnet 5 is supported by the device body in the projection 3. Magnet 5 has a domed head 5A which extends out of the projection 3 through a projection aperture 3A.
J
An electrical heating element in the form of a heating coil 6 is provided at the end of the magnet remote from the head 5A. Coil 6 is adapted to heat the magnet.
Coil 6 is powered by an electrical power source in the form of a battery 7 (optionally rechargeable). A switch 8 is used to connect and disconnect the battery 7 from the coil 6 to turn the coil "on" and "off'.
A light source 9 is provided inside the projection 3 adjacent the magnet. Light source 9 radiates light from the projection 3 through aperture 3A as shown by dotted lines. Light source 9 is powered by battery 7 and is turned "on" and "off' by switch 8 with the coil 6.
In use the device body 2 is positioned part of a body requiring therapy. The body projection 3 may be pointed at the part of the body requiring therapy with the light providing a visual indication of the area of the body being treated. The switch 8 may be turned "on" to heat coil 6 and hence magnet 5 (an illuminate light source 9) and this improves the magnetic strength of the magnet to hopefully improve the effectiveness of the therapy. Magnet may be heated to any desired temperature, e.g. about 22°C.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For example the light source could be omitted. Instead of a battery, the device could be "mains" powered.
4
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
