Abstract
243,446. Gledhill, A. H. Aug. 29, 1924. Rest-bars; springs, arrangement of.-Relates to guards for perambulators projecting in front of and behind the front and rear wheels respectively, and having stops which come in contact with the ground to prevent the vehicle from upsetting. The guards are constructed from lengths of flat bar which are clamped to the undersides of the wheel axles by the bolts which secure the springs to the axles. As shown, the guard comprises a single length of bar A secured by the bolts b to the axles B, bent downwardly towards its ends and then upwardly for attachment to the springs at a. The springs comprise a central portion C<1> and outwardly offset portions C secured by bolts c<1>, Fig. 2, to a plate c, the guard A being secured to the plate c by the bolts c<2>. The portions of the guard adapted to contact with the ground may be rounded as at a' or provided with rollers. In a modification, instead of connecting the ends of the guard to the springs, they may be bent back underneath the axles to overlap. The overlapping ends are secured together, an additional longitudinal bar being secured to the guard to reinforce it. The front and rear portions of the guard may be separate.
