Abstract
243,225. Alexander, A. E., (Snow-Motors, Inc.). April 15, 1925. Propelling by means other than adhesion driving-wheels and racks; couplings. - A chassis adapted to support a tractor or motor car comprises lateral drums 7 with helical blades 8, a frame 1, 2, a driving and steering gear box 30, and, in the case of a tractor, shown in Fig. 9, draught gear. The tractor T is supported pivotally at the front on a cross-bar 2 and at the rear by brackets 122 bolted to the differential casing W. A shaft 36, Fig. 5, is coupled to the driving shaft of the tractor and drives countershafts 55, 56. through clutches c, c<1>, and toothed wheels. The drums are driven by chains passing over sprockets 65. A trailer may be coupled to a block 170 sliding on a flange bolted to a plate 162. The chassis and the body of an ordinary car may be attached, in place of a tractor, by means of brackets on the frame 1, 2, engaging the ends of the sus pension springe.
