243,221. Petty, J. P., and Petty & Sons (Reading), Ltd. April 14, 1925. Flexible - band files. - In loose-leaf binders having chambered covers hinged to clamping-bars and provided with winding-mechanism for clamping the sheets between the bars, and thongs for engaging the loose leaves, any longitudinal movement of the thongs a on opening the binder is compensated for by yieldingly securing each thong at one end to the cover by a spiral spring c, which causes the thong to return to its original position when the book is closed. Limitation of the amount of movement may be effected by an eye e secured to the thong and engaging the pin securing the spring to the cover. The invention is described as being applied to the binder described in Specification 240,580.
