Abstract
The invention relates to traffic monitoring. Historic approaches have tended to be labour intensive and expensive, or such as by way of road side cameras that are expensive to install and maintain, and which are prone to vandalism. The objective of the invention is to provide a traffic monitoring means that avoids the above disadvantages, an objective that is met by a construction comprising a housing and a lens closing the top of the housing, there being within the housing at least one light sensitive detector means at one end of a respective fibre optic strand, said fibre optic strand extending to the lens and having an opposite end section positioned on or in the lens, the housing being located in a road surface.
