Abstract
A cable screener (4, fig 1) has a triangular cross section which can be varied by moving a face of the screener (4, fig 1) about a flexible joint 6. The variable cross section allows for differing sized cables to be housed in the screener (4, fig 1). The screener (4, fig 1) is to be positioned along the line of where a vertical surface, such as a wall (1, fig 1), meets a horizontal surface, such as the floor (3, fig 1). The screener (4, fig 1) may have a number of grippers 7 which can act to hold the screener (4, fig 1) in place when the face with the grippers 7 is slid under a length of skirting board (2, fig 1). Connectors may be provided to join together separate lengths of the cable screener (4, fig 1).
Description
The Description
Cable Screener: The cable screener is designed to hide any cables or wires that are laid around a room or office. This is done by inserting the cables/wires into the cable screener and tucking the screener underneath a skirting board leaving a small and tidy, flush fitting triangular tube at the base of the skirting board. It is fitted with grippers that stop the screener from coming away from the skirting board once fitted. The cable screener is of variable lengths that can easily be cut into the desired length required with an easy to slide together fitting to make longer lengths, also can be fitted around corners using the corner pieces that slide into the main screener. It can also be available in different colours and textures so it becomes part of the room/office.
Most households and offices have many cables nowadays and this small device could help hide many of these.
Example: Home cinema system.
A home cinema system has satellite speakers, which means more cables around a room, therefore using a cable screener would enable you to hide these cable neatly against the skirting board resulting in a tidier looking finish to a room.
The Drawin2s The following is a visual guide to the Cable Screener and how it works.
Figure 1: This shows a cut away view of how the Cable Screener works leaving a flush tidy effect.
Figure 2: Again shows how the Cable Screener works holding Cables within and tucked flush against the Skirting Board hiding them from view. It also shows the Grippers tucked under the Skirting Board gripping onto it not allowing it to slip out.
Figure 3: Shows a cut away view showing the Grippers and the Flexible Joint that allows cables to be inset.
Figure 4: The Flexible Joint in use allowing cables to be inserted into the Cable Screener.
Figure 5: The Joining Block, that allows more than one length of Cable Screener to be joined together to make bigger lengths.
Figure 6: The Corner Unit, allowing cables to continue around corners hidden from sight, this again slots into the main Cable Screener the same way as the Joining Block does.
Figure 7: The End Piece, again slots onto the main Cable Screener leaving the end where the cable/wire re-emerges smooth and tidy looking.
