Abstract

A tray provided with a pivotal lid 7, a base 2 and four side walls 6. The front side wall is cut low to accommodate hand access to the contents of the tray. The lid 7 is pivotally connected to the back side wall and may be releasably engaged with the two parallel side walls. The lid 7 extends the greater length of the base wall, but is cut back to allow hand access to the contents of the tray. A press clip-on or adhesive tab hinged member 4 located on or at a side wall renders the tray being capable of releasable connection with a conventional three sided desk-top file tray. The pivotal lid 7 of the tray permits the tray to accommodate varying loads of waste paper. The tray may be formed from a blank.

Description

As the consequence of a trend to remove the desk side wastepaper bin from
the office environment, a specific convenient alternative is needed to hold none contaminated paper for reuse, before disposal into the larger communal waste/recycle container 05. An alternative to be provided should conveniently be within arms reach, at desk height and not take up any additional space on the desk, where in most cases, space is at a premi urn.
"Conventional" open topped, three sided desk-top filing trays, of the in, out and 10. pending system, are already allocated to a purpose and traditionally the top tray of this stack is invariably used for the more bulky files and often more than one bulky file at a time, consequently an additional conventional tray is not the answer, it would also then be used for bulk files, likewise a lower tray in the stack is not convenient for all round access or paper collection.
15. This invention provides the solution by a multifunctional pivotal flip-top tray, having releasable securement by adhesive or clip-on hingedly connected means, to a vertical wall of the existing top tray, of the conventional desk top filing stack, enableling the pivotal flip top tray to be raised to allow access of bulky files, the pivotal flip top tray may then rest at any angle against the bulky files or to the extent of standing 90 degree 20. vertical, from the conventional horizontal filing stack top tray, conversely the pivotal flip top tray will lie horizontally on the top filing system tray, when at rest. 2.
Another aspect of the pivotal flip-top tray is the paper is stored fiat for reuse and not screwed up, in this state, it will not occupy the same volume as distorted or screwed up paper, but as a consequence of this the weight of recycled paper in the communal load control container increases.
05. Another beneficial aspect of the flip up tray is that the under side of the bottom wall, may be used for a quick access to phone numbers lists, e-mails. etc
Statement of the Invention
Accordingly the present invention provides a novel pivotal flip top tray for the collection of recyclable paper, rectangular in shape, but not limited in this respect, 10. having a base and four side walls, one of which is cut lower to accommodate hand access, a top, hingedly connected to a side wall and releasable connected to the top edge of two parallel side walls, providing a open and closed aspect, said cover extending the greater length of the base wall and cut back to accommodate hand access, a press clip-on or adhesive tab hinged member, located on or at the outer lower side wall connection with 15. the base wall, for releasable connection to the top of, and, the vertical wall, of a conventional three sided, desk-top file tray.
The pivotal tray may be moulded in plastic or constructed from any semirigid materials such as cardboard being fully recyclable in its own right, yet not restricted in its 20. purpose and application, in order that the invention may be more full understood, a preferred form of the pivotal flip top tray, in accordance with the invention, will now be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings. 3.
Figure 1. Raise and crease side wall (6) with end tabs (3) to 90 degrees from the base wall (2.) and turn inward end tabs (3), fold over rear tabs (4.& 5) and raise top wall (7.) at scored line (12) 90 degrees to base wall (2), raise Side (6.) to 90 degrees and insert rear tab (4) in to slot (13) provided, fold over side wall (6) and locate locking tags 05. (11), into slots (14) repeat on the opposite side, fold top wall (7), at scored line (15),and locate tabs (8) into slot (13),below, fold and locate top side-flaps (9), and tabs (10.). into slots (16) provided, adhesive tape is applied to tabs (4) for contact with the inside end wall of a conventional file tray to complete the process.
Figure 2., A pivotal flip top tray formed from a single sheet of semi rigid material 10. being die cut and scored line impressed, by scored line folding, providing a tray container with aperture (1) for the storage and retrieval of paper and other material.
A pivotal flip top tray comprising a base wall (2) and side walls (6) top wall (7) hingedly connected to side wall (6) at score line (15) bilaterally flanged (9), top wall (7) has winged location tabs, (10), inserted between and lying flush with said side walls 15. (6), providing an aperture (1), with releasable securement of said hinged top wall (7) allowing disengaged at slot (16) to allow greater access as required.
The Pivotal flip top Tray lies horizontally on top of the conventional desk-top file tray and is hingedly releasable connected to the top of the rear vertical wall cooperating with the rear bottom edge (12) of the Pivotal flip top tray, the hinge facilitates the front of 20. the flip top tray to be raised from horizontal in varying degrees as required through to a full ninety degrees vertical, whilst still retaining its contents and still accommodating the varying load requirements of the conventional top filing tray. 4.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims.
I claim, 1. A pivotal flip top tray, rectangular in shape, but not limited in this respect, having a base (2) and four side walls (6), the front one of which is cut lower to accommodate hand access (1) a top (7), hingedly connected by score line (13), a side wall, releasable connected (10) to the top edge of two parallel side walls(6), providing a open and closed aspect, said top (7) extending the greater length of the base wall (2) and cut back to accommodate hand access (1), a press clip-on or adhesive tab hinged member(4) located on or at the outer lower side wall connection (12) with the base wall (2), for releasable connection to the top of, and, the vertical wall, of a conventional three sided, desk-top file tray, the hinge action facilitates the front of the flip top tray to be raised from horizontal through varying degrees as required to a full ninety degrees vertical, whilst still retaining its contents and still accommodating the varying load requirements of the conventional top filing tray.
