Abstract

An apparatus for golf comprises a flexible arm 2 attached at one end to a ball 1 and at the other to a fixed point so that the ball is held in an ideal position for the user. The height of the ball may be adjusted 3. The arm may be fixed to a peg 4 for insertion into the ground or to a board (5 fig 2) for indoor use. A vane 6 may be attached to the peg to prevent rotation of the arm. The flexible arm will return the ball to its original position after it is struck.

Background
When practising golf strokes, the golfer may use several balls, which have to be retrieved, interrupting practice. The self-adjusting golf ball apparatus described allows practice to con- tinue without this interruption.
Statement of Invention
The golf practice apparatus uses a ball suspended on a flexible arm in such a way as to present the user with the ball positioned ideally, quickly restored to that position soon after a strike.

Detailed Description
A ball 1 is attached by a strong but flexible arm 2 to a fixed cylindrical base 3. The base can be attached to a peg 4 for insertion into the ground (Fig. 1), or to a board 5 placed on a floor, for indoor use (Fig. 2). The ball is suspended above the ground or floor at the desired height for striking due to the position of the arm, which is curved by gravity and by its own physical characteristics. The shaft of the peg has a vane 6 to prevent rotation of the peg when in use. The height of the ball supported on a board is adjusted steplessly by means of a rigid, friction- loaded sleeve 7 that is raised or lowered on the base.
After striking, the ball is returned by the arm to its original position. It is thus ready for an- other strike.

  1. Claims 1. A golf practice apparatus comprising a ball suspended from a
    fixed base on a flexible arm that holds the ball in a required position and restores it to that position quickly.
  2. 2. A vane to prevent rotation of the apparatus when inserted into soil.
  3. 3. A sliding adjustment tube to adjust the height of the ball above a floor.
