Abstract

Magnetic instruments ; head sets.-The magnet of a telephone is formed with spring-like polepieces adapted to be adjusted in relation to the diaphragm by a screw device operable from the back of the casing. As shown, the fixed part of the magnet a is semi-circular in shape and the two spring pole-pieces d extend radially inwards. Both pole-pieces are engaged by the head of a T-shaped bolt i extending through a boss l on the back of the casnig and operated by a nut j. The boss mav be formed with a slot p, adapted to receive the flattened end of the stem s of a head band z, the stem having lateral pins t engaging grooves in the sides of the slot p. The nut j closes the end of the slot p and retains the stem. The upper end of the stem passes through a stud u on the head band and also through a cap v placed over the stud and pressed outwards to grip the stem s by a resilient washer w.
