Abstract
A vessel has dispensing outlets at both the top of the vessel and in the bottom or base. The outlet in the bottom is provided within a recessed part of the base, such that the vessel is able to stand on its base. The bottom outlet may have a sliding closure device which is movable between open and closed positions. The sliding closure device may be covered by a removable strip (fig 6) which bears information regarding the use of the bottom outlet. The typical use of the invention is in respect of vessels containing viscous fluids, such as plastic shampoo bottles.

THE DOUBLE ENDER
The invention relates to a vessel which has sealable openings at both the top and bottom which are used to dispense its contents. The vessel stands upright on its base.
There are many vessels available which are used to store and dispense a multitude of contents. However, a common problem with all conventional dispensing vessels is that the contents at the bottom of the vessel get wasted because they take too long to flow up to the top to be dispensed in the usual way. By not using all the contents the consumer is not getting value for money and also the environment suffers due to the additional materials needed for more vessels to be produced than should be necessary.
The object of this invention is to make it possible to dispense the contents at the bottom of the vessel without shaking the vessel or waiting for gravity to help the contents move to the opposite end of the upturned vessel. This will give the consumer more value for money and will have a beneficial effect on the environment with fewer vessels being produced meaning fewer environmentally harmful materials being released.
In order to do this a second sealable dispensing mechanism will be integrated into the base of the vessel to be used when its contents become low enough that using the intended dispenser is no longer convenient.
For this invention the dispensing hole will be covered with a sliding door which clips into place in the open and closed positions.
This additional dispensing mechanism will be hidden, covered with a removable strip on which will be written instructions as to when and how to use it. The dispensing mechanism on the base of the vessel will be recessed so as to allow it to stand upright on its base.
The invention could be made from, but not limited to plastic, glass or metal I i A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows an angled end-on view of the base of the vessel from below with the slide mechanism in the open position. The slide fits into the base of the vessel, sliding towards the side to open, but catching before coming off completely; FIGURE 2 shows a straight end-on view from below with the sliding mechanism in the closed position; FIGURE 3 shows a straight endon view from above with the sliding mechanism in the closed position; FIGURE 4 shows a front-on view of the wider side of the base of the vessel. It can be seen that the base is flat with the slide mechanism recessed into the base; FIGURE 5 shows the same view as FIGURE 4 but from the narrow side of the vessel; FIGURE 6 shows an angled end-on view of the base as in FIGURE 1 but with the instruction label partly removed and the slide mechanism partly showing and fully closed.
All the drawings included refer only to the second dispensing mechanism.
This is located in the base of the vessel and will only be opened when the contents reach a level which is too low to be easily accessible.
A typical use of such an invention would be, but not limited to, a plastic shampoo bottle.
Claims (3)
1. A vessel with a sealable dispensing mechanism at the top and in its base.
2. A vessel as claimed in Claim 1 that will stand upright on its base.
3. A double ended vessel substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
