Abstract

241,726. Bennion, C. F. Nov. 12, 1924. Locking-catches.- A gas valve for gas cookers &c. is locked in different positions by a catch released by a push-button, which is housed wholly in a recess so as to be protected against accidental actuation. The pushbutton 11, Fig. 3, is housed in a recess 10 in the valve head 2. The locking-bolt 12 is keyed at 18 to the rotary valve plug 1 and engages a ring of serrations 14 on the fixed valve body 4. To release the valve the bolt is depressed against the action of a spring 16. The plug 1 is formed with a peripheral recess 20 of varying depth to register with the ports 21, 22. The head 2 is provided with radial fins 3 and with stops 7, 8 and graduation marks. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which a locking-bolt 32 pivoted in a fixed yoke 28 engages radial notches 24 in the valve head 23, and is released by pressing on a button 31 housed in a recess 38 in the yoke 28.
