Processes for reduction of grain. - In a flour mill having a sieve or sieves placed directly below the brake rolls, such for example as that described in Specification 9406/09, the tailings from the sieve pass to a plansifter, and the throughs pass direct to a rotary sifter or plansifter. In the latter case the sieves for both throughs and tailings may be arranged in the same plansifter casing. The overtails from the plansifter that treats the tailings may pass to gravity aspirators, or to sieve purifiers.
