Abstract
A mathematical board game comprises a hexagonal board 1 with hexagonal playing tiles (fig 2). Each tile is marked on both sides with mathematical indicia. The tiles are stored in a cloth bag until selected for play, when they may be arranged on racks (fig 3). The tiles are placed on the board to create mathematical equations 3 and points awarded for each complete equation.
Description
ARITHMETICAL EQUATIONS BOARD GAME
The invention relates to an arithmetical strategy board game playable by two to four players. The purpose of the game is to enable players to concurrently enjoy playing and learning, through creating arithmetical equations which assign scores to the players. The game sharpens both mental arithmetic and strategy skills, for both children and adults.
Each player attempts to maximise their score by creating equations 2 with counters Fig. 2, marked with numbers and arithmetical symbols on opposing faces.
The game board Fig. 1 is hexagonal, made up of blank hexagons 1 upon which players place their equations 3, created 2 on a rack Fig. 3.
The counters are also hexagonal, using both faces Fig. 2 for displaying the numbers and arithmetical symbols.
Scoring is determined by the result of any equation e.g. 2+2=4, the score being four; e.g. 3x7=21, the score being twenty-one.
The player achieving the highest score at the end of the game, is the winner.
FIGURE 1 shows the game board with one example of an actually completed game; FIGURE 2 shows examples of counters, two showing numbers and the other two showing arithmetical symbols; FIGURE 3 shows a counters rack upon which is shown an equation 2 used in that game 3.
Claims (7)
1. An arithmetical board game in the shape of a hexagon, encompassing a plurality of smaller blank hexagons upon which players place (after arranging on a rack), marked hexagon-shaped counters to create equations, the value of which determines each score.
2. A board as claimed in Claim 1 where the board, or counters, or racks, are optionally made of cardboard, or rubber, or magnetised rubber, or plastic, or metal, or wood.
3. A board as claimed in Claim 1 where the counters are of a hexagonal shape sufficient in size to fit within the blank hexagonal shapes on the board.
4. A board as claimed in Claim 1 where all the counters each have two faces, of numbers and of arithmetical symbols.
5. A board as claimed in Claim 1 where the counters are stored in a soft cloth bag, or other suitable material, sufficiently large enough to hold the total number of counters.
6. A board as claimed in Claim 1 where the various pieces - board and counters, and racks - are packaged in a presentation container of optional shapes of oblong, square or round, and made optionally of cardboard, or rubber, or magnetised rubber, or plastic, or metal, or wood.
7. A board as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 6 whereby up to four racks are provided to enable players to view, and sort privately, a specific number of counters taken by them, out of the bag, for the purpose of creating the most desirable equations.
