Moving-chamber apparatus. - Comprises a liquid container provided with spaced discharge openings and within which are located several measuring chambers having openings at the lower end which in one position of the chambers open communication with the container and in another position register with discharge openings, means being provided for moving the measuring chambers from one position to the other. The liquid container 11 mounted by standards 22 on a base 24 contains a. battery of measuring chambers 33 having their open lower ends mounted in spaced relationship in a plate or slide 30. This plate, together with the chambers, is adapted to slide over a fixed plate 25 through which and through the bottom of the receptacle pass tubes 15 spaced apart similarly to the ends of the chambers. In the plate 25 are also formed openings 28 which in the position shown in Fig. 1 place the chambers into communication with the container. Adjustable vent tubes 35 in the measuring chambers servo to regulate the height to which liquid can rise. The vessels 12 to be filled are carried on a trav 13 secured in position by a spring pin 17. The slide 30 is moved by a shaft 47 sliding through a gland in the side of the container and moved by a hand lever 45 to which it is pivoted. This hand lever is pivoted to a link 68 pivoted to a part 69 connected to the bottom of the container, and is also connected by linkage 57, 61 to a sliding drip tray 55 which is provided with flanged openings 55<a> which, when the measuring chambers are discharging, register with the tubes 15. In a modification, the tubes 35 are omitted and the measuring chambers are filled to the level of the liquid in the container, which level may be varied by providing an admission pipe and a discharge pipe which may be swung about a pivot so that its end is at different heights in the container. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the chambers 95 are formed in or built up with the slide 91 and are fitted with loose ejector plungers 96 carried from a lever 107 pivoting on a shaft 111. This lever is pivoted to the rod 102 of a piston 101 working in a cylinder 100 to which compressed air is admitted by a rotary valve 124. The slide 91 is moved by a hand-lever 116. rock shaft 94 and link 93. the hand-lever being connected by a link to a sliding bar 119 to which the drip tray 117 is connected. The valve 124 is connected by linkage to the sliding bar 119 so that it admits air to the cylinder when the measuring chamber is over the discharge passage 88, and exhausts the cylinder to the atmosphere, when the measuring chamber is charging, the shaft 111 being returned by a spring which is tensioned on the upstroke of the piston. A set-screw 140 is provided on the guide-bracket 141 to regulate the quantity received in the measuring chamber 95. The level of liquid in the container may be kept constant by a float valve controlling admission.
