Abstract

A machine similar to an ATM is used to deposit money and credit it to a bank account. It has facilities to accept a bank card for user identification and is capable of accepting money in the form of banknotes, coins and cheques.

application for a patent for a Self-Service, Cash Deposit Banking Machine
Description of how this machine would work
Customers would be able to deposit as much, or as little, as they want using whatever money they have on them - being it notes or loose change.
The money they deposit will be paid directly into the account of their choosing e.g. their current account, a savings account or even a specially set up pensions account.
Customers will access their account in the same way that they can withdraw money from existing Automatic Telling Machines (ATM's) using current chip/pin number technology and card. By inserting their card and identifying themselves through the chip/pin technology, customers will be then be able to choose which (if more than one possibility) account they would like to pay their money into.
Customers will have a similar interface to that of an ATM machine used to withdraw money, in that it will have a screen with instructions or options, plus a keypad and a slot for the customer's card.
Customers will be able to request a receipt from the machir;e for their own records The paying in machines would be situated in public places, such as public houses, train and bus stations and shopping centres.
The machine would be connected to the customer's bank networks in the same way that ATM's that are already present in the aforementioned places.
Customers would be able to withdraw on the money paid in immediately from an ATM.
Customers would even be able to transfer money from one account to another - even from a credit card As with the current ATM network, customers would be able to use any machine to be able to deposit money into their account(s) The machine will have no minimum emit to how much can be deposited Customers will deposit money through a coin slot, a note slot, a cheque slot and their credit cards can be used in the card slot When the machine is full, the machine will prevent any customers from depositing any more money and notify them as such on the screen.

  1. CLAIM
    A machine In which all kinds of money, change, notes, cheques and card transactions can deposited/made by customers.
    Amcnlments to the claims have been filed as follows:

    A machine in which all kinds of money, change, notes, cheques and card transactions can be deposited/made by customers. If cheques are to be deposited into the machine, then they will face the same time constraints and security checks as with current cheque deposit machines to prevent fraud.
    They are therefore not a major part of the functionality or design. The machine would work and the idea would cover machines without this aspect of our design.
