Abstract

Monoazo dyes are obtained by coupling any diazo compound with 1- (21 : 51-dichloro-31-sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. The diazo compounds obtained from aniline and its holologues and substitution products, their sulphonic acids, sulphamides and carboxylic acids, and the b -naphthylamine monosulphonic acids are mentioned; in an example, diazotized o-aniline sulphonic acid is used. The products dye wool from an acid bath in yellow or greenish-yellow shades. 1- (21 : 51-dichloro-31 sulphophenyl)-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone is obtained from p-dichlorbenzene by sulphonating it and subsequent nitration and reduction. The resulting p-dichlorometanilic acid is converted into the corresponding p-dichlorophenylhydrazine-m-sulphonic acid and condensed with ethyl acetoacetate.
