Abstract
An insert for point of sale display box packaging has a rectangular centre panel 1 and side panels 2, 3, 4, 5 provided in folding relationship along each of the edges of the centre panel. The insert is inserted through an open end of a box such that the side panels of the insert are between the product and the side walls of the box and the centre panel forms a cover above the product. A hole 6 may be provided in the centre panel to allow insertion of a finger for removal of the insert. The insert is preferably made from cardboard or paper materials but it may alternatively be made from plastic materials. Its use increases the vertical rigidity of the box and protects the product from damage during transit and storage.
Description
-' 241 3790 MB' Box Bridge The invention relates to an internal support
for point of sale, display box packaging.
Current forms of point of sale packaging, specifically display boxes, suffer from the disadvantage of having insufficient internal integrity or strength that is needed to transport and store the product(s) without incurring damage. This reoccurring problem often results in the overpackaging of many products, which in turn affects the product financially (through increased costs), and significantly reduces the 'convenience' factor to the end user at point of sale.
The object of this invention is to create a universal internal support for display box, point of sale, packaging. The support provides internal integrity and strength, reducing the damage/spoilage to the product(s) throughout the process of transit and storage, right through to end-user.
Accordingly, the MBI Box Bridge provides support to all sides/areas of the display box packaging, surrounding the product contained within in such a way that considerable force/pressure can be applied to box, from a vertical position, with no resulting damage. The MBI Box Bridge is a onepiece unit that can be tailored to fit any symmetrical, six-sided box.
The unit inserts in between the product and the outer wall of the box, forming a secondary and additional barrier against external forces and pressure. The unit reduces the amount of extra packaging required to provide sufficient support against the aforementioned external forces.
The MBI Box System would be preferably made from a form of cardboard/paper material, but may instead be made from plastic materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1: Shows a plan view of the MBi Box Bridge, laid flat showing the design in full.
FIGURE 2: Shows a three-dimensional view of the MBI Box Bridge.
FIGURE 3: Shows a three-dimensional view of how the MBI Box Bridge inserts into a typical point of sale, display box packaging.
As shown in Figure 1, the MBI Box Bridge is a single-unit support system comprising of five surfaces that include a front panel (2), back panel (3) , top panel (1) and two side panels (4 & 5). The central or top panel (1) is placed over the top of the product(s) contained within the box, thereby forming a roof or cover, followed by folding the four surrounding panels (2,3,4 & 5) downwards to create supporting walls around each side(s) of the product(s).
Figure 2 shows the unit (box bridge) in its final form before insertion into a display box (7). To aid the removal of the unit (box bridge) a small aperture (6)1, large enough to place a finger through, has been added to the top panel (1).
As shown in Figure 3, the MBI Box Bridge is inserted into a display box (7), in its final form, locating in between the product(s) and the outer wall of the box (7) itself.
