Abstract

A removable hob cover for covering an electric or gas hob when not in use. The hob cover may be provided with a hole cut out on either side of the cover to facilitate removal of the cover for storage. The upper surface of the cover may be flat to provide an additional workspace in a kitchen. The cover may be produced from metals, plastics or wood. The cover may be painted or enamelled.

HOB COVER

This invention relates to a Hob Cover and would be used to cover an electric or gas cooking bob.

Cooking bobs are well known to become unsightly over time due to the tarnishing effect of heat and flames, and the effects of corrosion and oxidization. They also tend to get scratched, and the surface area can easily be damaged from cooking utensils placed on the bob. Also, even a new bob may not blend in very well with the surroundings due to its dark and dull appearance.

An object of this invention is to provide a removable bob cover to fit over the bob and completely conceal it from view, thereby covering the unsightly appearance of the bob. The Hob Cover would be removed by hand when using the bob for cooking, and replaced again by hand once the bob was not in use.

Preferably, the cover would be made from metal or plastics material, but it may be made of a variety of materials. The bob cover surface would be either sprayed with various different colours of paint or enamel, or in some other way coloured in a large variety of different colours, such that it blended in with the natural surroundings of the bob.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the two accompanying drawings in which: Figure I shows a side view of the Hob Cover when used with a gas bob Figure 2 shows a side view of the Hob Cover when used with an electric bob As shown in figure I and figure 2, the Hob Cover comprises of an inverted dish shaped object that would rest directly on the surface of bob mounting used to support the bob.

It would have two holes cut out of it on either side to allow the Hob Cover to be easily picked up by hand so as to be removed and stored elsewhere whilst the bob was used for cooking purposes and cleaning. The bob Cover would then be repositioned by hand when the bob was not in use.

1. A I lob Cover of a minimum size and shape to completely cover either a gas or an electric bob cooker.

2. A Hob Cover as claimed in ('lahn I including a hole cut out on either side so as to make it easy to remove and store elsewhere.

3. A I lob Cover as claimed in Claim I or C laim 2 where the upper surface is flat to provide additional workspace.

4. A l-lob ('over as claimed in any preceding claim which is made from metal plastics material or wood or Irom a combination of these materials.
