Abstract

A lift truck comprises a truck body 1, a traveling motor 3, an electromagnetic brake 17, a brake operation device 10 for actuation of the electromagnetic brake, and a brake controller 20 for detecting operation of the brake operation. The brake controller comprises an operation sensor 21 for detecting operation of the brake operation device, a speed sensor 23 for detecting the traveling speed, a controller 24 for deciding the electric brake force value in accordance with the detected speed sensor value, and a motor drive part 28 for inputting therein the electric brake force value to electrically brake the motor. The brake controller, when it detects operation of the brake operation device, actuates the electromagnetic brake, detects the traveling speed of the truck body, and electrically brakes the motor according to the decided value, to increase or decrease the electric brake force in correspondence to the detected traveling speed. Other embodiments control the electric brake force in correspondance with the detected truck body weight.
