Abstract
The tamper evident device is installed into the neck of a bottle prior to capping. Once the cap is removed the device is taken out of the bottle by pulling the self exposing removing tab. Once pulled the tab locks into an upright position therefore showing that an attempt has been made to remove it further pulling removes the device completely. Part 1 moves freely within part 2 until angled flanges on the tab and stopper contact with each other (see detail A); this contact is maintained by a spring. When a cap is fitted to the bottle (see fig 2), the spring is compressed. To remove the stopper the tab is pulled to overcome the resistence between mating surfaces on the angled flanges, which locks the tab in an extended position (see detail C).
Description
vS 2408733 TITLE: Tamper Evident Bottle stopper
DESCRIPTION:
The device is made from a number of components assembled together. (Fig i) Part moves freely through part 2 until the angled flanges of both parts are in contact with each other. A).This contact is maintained by applying a spring principle to the underside of part l.(detai' B) By inserting the device into the bottle neck prior to capping, the cap (when fitted) will compress the spring, pushing part 1 into part 2. (Fig 2) Once the cap has been removed from the bottle part 1 will again pass through part 2 as shown in (detai'A) extending the removal tab (part 1) above the bottle top. (figs) A pulling action on part 1 will overcome the resistance between the two mating faces forcing the angled flange on part 1 to snap through the angled hole on part 2. (Detail c) therefore locking the removal tab part into an upright (non returnable) tamper evident position. (Fig 4) Further pulling on part 1 will remove entire device from the neck of the bottle. (Fig S) Although the device can be reinserted the removal tab (part 1) will still be locked in the upright position, indicating that it has been removed. (Fig 6)
