Abstract

A triple frame window has an outer frame 1 with opening middle 2 and inner 3 frames, the middle and inner frames being openable together in one direction, the inner frame openable singly in the opposite direction, or both middle and inner frames open singly in opposite directions (figure 13). All opening modes are controlled by a single handle 5 via a gearbox and cross-connector 11, preferably with an espagnolette mechanism 12. The handle may be positioned anywhere around the frames and more than one handle may be provided. The window may be used in a non-vertical orientation, such as a roof, for which the weight of the inwardly-opening mode is taken by an inertia reel (21, figure 14) or counterbalance weight (25, figure 15) and pulley (24, figure 15). Also disclosed is a transom and seal arrangement (figure 17) with a water drainage channel (33).
