Abstract
A bin for the disposal of chewing gum, where an audible acknowledgement is activated when an object such as gum is deposited into the bin. The acknowledgement may be activated by a movement sensor 2 that is coupled to an electronic device 10. The bin may have an outer casing 3 with four legs 8 and a removable internal bin 5 which sits on a shelf 6 with a drainage tube 7. Parts of the bin may also be coated in a non-stick material.
Description
CHEWING Go DISPOSAL Be The invention consists of a free standing outer
casing containing a removable bin.
Unlike other rubbish bins, this bin will encourage people to discard chewing gum into it rather than onto the floor or pavement.
This invention would make it possible for chewing gum to be deposited directly into the top of the bin allowing it to be disposed of without having to be handled. Also it would give an audible signal in acknowledgement of having aforementioned gum deposited.
This invention would consist of a receptive top and also an internal movement sensor linked to audible signal. Both outer casing and internal bin would be constructed from metal, some of which may be coated in a nonstick material.
The following details will be described making reference to the accompanying drawing. For purpose of clarity, the word 'bin' will be used to describe the complete item and 'intemal bin' to describe the removable bin.
Figure 1 shows a sectional view of the front of the bin.
Figure 2 shows a view from above.
As shown in fig 1 the bin comprises of a free standing metal box (3) supported by four legs (8). These would be joined with a metal plate (9) at the bottom to allow it to be fixed to the ground.
At the top of the bin (fig 2) there is an opening (I Dto allow gum to be deposited directly in to the bin. The sides of this opening ( 1) slope inwards as they go down, directing gum into the internal bin (5)(fig 1). The sides of the opening and also the internal bin, may be coated in a non-stick material l The internal bin (5) in fig 1, has drainage holes in its base to allow liquid to pass through onto the support shelf (6) and down the drain tube(7).
Mounted on the side near to the top, is a movement sensor (2) linked to an electronic device (10), this would detect any gum being deposited into the bin and reward the depositor with an audible signal.
One side of this bin is removable (4) allowing access to the electronic device and also the internal bin (S)
Claims (8)
1. A chewing gum disposal bin whereby gum may be deposited directly into the top of the bin and an audible acknowledgement will be heard.
2. A 'bin' as claimed in claim I having a removable internal bin.
3. A 'bin' as claimed in claim I which has a movement sensor to detect objects entering the top of the bin.
4. A 'bin' as claimed in claims I and 3 which has an audible electronic device to acknowledge objects deposited into the bin.
5. A 'bin' as claimed in claim 2 which has a support shelf, with drainage tube, for internal bin,
6. A 'bin' as claimed in claims 4 and 5 which has a space under the support shelf to house electronic device.
7. A 'bin' as claimed in any preceding claim which is made of metal, parts of which may be coated in a non-stick material.
8. A bin as described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
