Abstract
A method of manufacture of a gearbox casting having a number of gearbox casing parts(2,5); bringing the casing parts (2,5) together to define a pair of aligned apertures, each aperture being defined by both casing parts (2,5); tapping a screwthread (21) in the aligned apertures; separating the cast casing parts (2,5) assembling the gearbox with the casing parts (2,5) encasing components comprising meshing gears (3,7); engaging an externally threaded adjuster collar (8) with the screwthread (21) in the aperture of the assembled gearbox; and rotating the adjuster collar (8) relative to the gearbox casing to adjust clearance between the encased components.
