Abstract

239,698. Ashby, F. Sept. 6, 1924. Luggage-carriers; supports. - In a combined luggage-carrier and stand for motor and other cycles &c., the stays 3 of the carrier 1 and the legs 6 of the stand are connected together by an intermediate coupling-plate or member 5, which also serves to attach the carrier stays and stand legs to the wheel axle or to the machine frame &c., an arm 9 of the coupling-plate being provided with a hole 10 to fit over the wheel axle, or with a two-part clip to clamp around the down-stay 2. The coupling-plate 5 is provided with an outwardly-projecting stop 14 to hold the stand in the operative position. The stand may be turned up under the rear end of the carrier and retained there by the engagement of the transverse tiebar with a clip formed of a bent strip of spring metal.
