Abstract

239,659. Gaskell, W., and Gaskell, M. July 28, 1924. Special yarns, producing.-The protruding ends in threads formed from resilient fibres such as horsehair are secured by binding them with one or more yarns b. The horsehair or like threads a are drawn by rollers 6, 7 through discs f, g and tubes h. On the discs are mounted bobbins c, d of the binding yarn. The discs f are rotated and the yarns b are wound around the thread a as shown. Where two binding- yarns are used they are wound in opposite directions. The finished threads are wound on a bobbin 8, a guiding rod 9 reciprocated from cranks 12 through links 13 being used. Known cone drives for the bobbin 8 are used to diminish the speed as the building of the yarn progresses.
