Description
- 1 SIDE WINDOW FOR A VEHICLE IN PARTICULAR A PASSENGER VEHICLE
The invention relates to a side window for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, in particular a passenger vehicle, with a window and a trim which can be 5 moved relative to the window.
When a side window, in particular a fixed side window, is built into the side wall of a car, the transition between the window and other components of the car, in particular the doors, can be covered by a trim. This is used particularly in the case of "high-value finish levels".
10 One type of side window for a vehicle is known from DE 197 41 538 Al. In this window, an edge trim can be attached to a window frame by means of adjusters.
The adjuster comprises a tubular adjuster clip which is inserted into a hole in the window frame. The adjuster clip has an internal thread into which a locking screw is screwed which has the effect of expanding and locking the adjuster clip.
15 It is an object of the invention to propose an improved side window of this type. According to the invention, there is provided a side window for a vehicle, in particular a passenger vehicle, with a window and a trim which can be moved relative to the window, wherein the trim can be tightened with a component that is 20 fixed to the window.
Thus the trim can be moved relative to the window and can be tightened with a component fixed to the window. When being installed, the trim can initially be moved relative to the window into the correct position. It can then be fixed in this position by a tightening with a component fixed to the window. In this way, the trim 25 can be made to be adjustable to the window. The component fixed to the window can be attached directly or indirectly to the window. The invention is particularly suitable for windows with extruded edging.
A particular advantage of the invention is that gaps between the window and another component of the vehicle, in particular a door of the vehicle, can be 30 equalised or covered.
Advantageous refinements of the inventions are described in the subclaims.
- 2 A wedge can be provided that can be tightened with a recess in a component fixed to the window. The wedge is preferably conical in shape. In this case, the recess is also preferably conical in shape.
The trim or the wedge can be tightened with a screw.
5 The trim or the wedge can be tightened with a clip.
The trim can have a tongue which runs underneath one or more, preferably two, domes attached to the window. This makes it easy to fix the trim, in particular before final assembly.
The window may have an edge extrusion. It is advantageous if the extrusion 10 has a dome or domes.
In the following, an embodiment of the invention will be described in detail by reference to the appended drawing, wherein: Fig. 1 shows the rear portion of a passenger vehicle with a side window in 15 perspective view, Fig.2 shows the side window in perspective view, Fig. 3 shows the detail "A" from Fig. 2 in an enlarged perspective view, Fig. 4 shows a plan view of detail "A" as per Fig. 3, Fig. 5 shows a section along the line A-A in Fig. 4, and 20 Fig. 6 shows a section along the line B-B in Fig. 5.
The side window 1 shown in perspective view in Fig. 2 comprises a window l 2 and a trim 2. It also comprises a trim strip 13. By means of the trim 2, the transition between the window 12 and the door (not shown in this drawing), which in 25 its closed state abuts with its edge to the side wall 3 of the passenger vehicle is covered. The edge of the window 12 is surrounded by an edge extrusion 11 which partially covers both sides of the window 12 and which holds extensions 14 of a clip 4 between itself and the window 12 in an adjoining area. The clip 4 provides a recess 30 7 which runs in a conical manner in the x-z plane (Fig. 6). The x-axis runs in the
- 3 longitudinal direction of the vehicle, the y-axis runs horizontally across the vehicle's longitudinal axis and the z-axis runs in the vertical direction.
The conical recess 7 contains a wedge 6 which has a corresponding conical outer contour and which has a central thread 15 into which a countersunk screw 5 5 may be screwed. The screw 5 passes through a hole in the edge section 16 of the trim 2. The clip 4 has in the area of the screw 5 a contour corresponding to the countersunk section of the edge section 16 so that the clip 4 touches the inner edge of the edge section 16 of the trim 2 as can be clearly seen in Fig. 5. The conical recess 7 in the clip 4 and the conical external contour of the wedge 6 are configured in such a 1 0 way that they extend from the edge section 16 of the trim 2 to the window 12 so that the clip 4 is pressed against the edge section 16 of the trim 2 by the wedge 6 and is tightened by this when the screw 5 is screwed into the wedge 6.
The trim 2 comprises a visible surface 17 on one side of which is joined the edge section 16 and on the other side a tongue 8. The tongue 8 is bent by 180 as can 15 be seen in Fig. 5.
The clip 4 has a slot 10 in the area of the screw 5 stretching in the yaxis thus enabling movement or sliding of the clip 4 in the y-axis as indicated by the double arrow 18 in Fig. 5.
When assembling the trim 2, said trim is laid onto the edge extrusion 11. It 20 adjoins the extrusion with connecting lug 19 between the visible surface 17 and tongue 8 on a raised section 20 of the edge extrusion 11 which is located on its end that is pointing to the window 12. Two domes or lugs 9 which are manufactured integrally with the edge extrusion 11, stand proud of the edge extrusion 11. The tongue 8 of the trim 2 is Tshaped. The outer ends 21 of the T-bar run under the 25 domes 9. The trim 2 is thus prevented from lifting on the rear edge or the connecting lug 19.
The trim is tightened by the screw 5 through the front edge or the edge section 16 of the trim with the clip 4. Tightening is achieved by pressing the conical wedge 6 against the recess 7 in the clip 4. This position is then maintained by friction 30 on the conical flanks.
- 4 To adjust the trim, the screw 5 is released. If necessary, the wedge 6 can be pushed backwards against the screw 5 in the x-axis to release it from the conical recess 7. The trim can then be adjusted in the y-axis. The screw 5 is then tightened again. Adjustment of the trim can also be carried out before it is tightened for the 5 first time.
The trim 2 can be moved in the y-axis relative to the window 12. It can be tightened with a component fixed to the window, namely the clip 4. The clip 4 to which the trim 2 is fixed has the functionality allowing the trim to be adjusted up and down in the y-axis. Thus, it is possible to equalise any misalignment with the 10 adjoining door. The Variable adjustment of the trim 2 is achieved by a conical wedge 6 being tightened against a conical recess 7 in the clip 4 by means of the screw 5. A slot 10 is provided in the clip 4 along the y axis. The recess 7 for the wedge 6 is made as a profile.
