Abstract

Stickers 3 glow in the dark to show the whereabouts of an electrical switch 5 or socket to which they are applied. They may be made by printing phosphorus ink onto self adhesive sheet stock and kiss-cutting the design of the switch or socket into the sheet. The stickers are then peeled from their backing sheet and applied so as to cover the entire facia of the switch or socket except for holes for screws (and for the pins of one or more plugs in the case of a socket) and a gap around each manually-movable switch-actuating part.

Description

v GLOW IN THE DARK SWITCH/ SOCKET STICKERS
This invention relates to self-adhesive, glow in the dark Phosphorous stickers which are kiss cut in design to fit a range of existing light switches and socket fixtures and fittings.
Light switches and sockets are a familiar and common sight in any commercial or residential building. Generally made by a process of injection moulding to form a range of different types of switch or socket configurations; Single, double, dimmers to name but a few.
However, they all suffer from the disadvantage of being difficult to locate at night or in a darkened room.
By giving the switch or socket the ability to glow in the dark it would make it ideally suited for the elderly, children or partially sighted people.
An object for this invention is to make any existing electrical switch or socket easier to locate at night or in darkened areas.
Accordingly, the invention uses Phosphorous ink to print a range of self adhesive stickers in sheet form. Any number of existing light or socket designs are then kiss cut into the printed sheets to allow a required design to be applied to the facie of any switch or socket of matching design and configuration. After an initial exposure to light the Phosphorous stickers will appear to glow in the dark.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows a typical set of self adhesive sheets with various designs of existing switch or socket configurations kiss cut into them.
FIGURE 2 Shows a typical design being removed from the backing paper.
FIGURE 3 shows a typical sticker applied to a matching socket.
Referring to the drawings; as shown in fig1, the sticker sheets comprise of a self-adhesive stock 1 onto which a phosphorous ink 2 is applied. Designs of existing switches and sockets are then kiss cut 3 into the self adhesive stock.
As shown in figure 2, when the kiss cut designs 3 are peeled away from the self adhesive backing paper 1 unwanted areas such as screw holes, plug apertures and switch holes 4 are left remaining on the backing paper 1 or can be discarded.
As shown in figure 3, the required design 3 can then be applied to the facie of any socket or switch of matching design 5.
