Abstract

A door holding device comprises a flexible base and jaws for gripping the door. When a door is lowered between the jaws the weight of the door pushes down on the flexible base, which bends, causing the jaws to grip the door. Preferably the device is made from MDF, plywood, or a combination of these. A sundela board may be placed on the jaw faces so as not to mark the door.

Auto door holder.
This is a device for holding a door on edge while it is planed down to size or the hinges cut in or the locks fitted etc. It can be used by carpenters and joiners and would be sort after in the DIY market.

Claims (1)

  1. Claim Auto door holder.
    This device is used to hold a door on edge. It works simply by the user lowering the door into the gap between the jaws. The weight of the door pushes down onto the base, which is thin and flexible and so bends which in turn pulls the jaws together and grips the doors. I have allowed for one jaw to be adjustable so the device will accept any width door or a panel. This can be made of MDF or plywood or a combination, but whatever it is made from I would put sundela board on the face of the jaws. This is a soft board and so does not mark a polished door. It also helps grip the door.
