Abstract
The invention relates to a method of printing a flexible support which is suitable for supports comprising two stacked transparent plastic sheets and, in particular, for packaging purposes. The inventive method consists in printing a first image and/or text on the internal face of a first sheet; applying an opaque layer on top of said first image and/or text; printing a second image and/or text on said opaque layer; and stacking the second sheet on top of the first and sticking it thereto, leaving the first and second texts and/or images disposed between both sheets.

DESCRIPTION
PROCEDURE FOR PRINTING A FLEXIBLE SUPPORT
5 Technical sector of the invention The object of the invention is a procedure for printing on a flexible support of the type habitually used on food product containers.
Background to the invention
10 A wide variety of embodiments of flexible supports is known which are used in the food product packaging industry as additional elements to the container itself. As an example of such flexible supports one could highlight the flexible strips joined to net bags for packaging products such as citric or other fruit and vegetable products, adapted as a handle for easing the carrying of the 15 bag and/or used as an advertising media and for carrying any other information, such as, for example, guarantees of origin.
Essentially, said flexible plastic supports are made up of two plastic transparent films superimposed and stuck together and are of a suitable material 20 for their incorporation as a packaging element.
Up to the present time, the printing of images and/or texts on said plastic flexible supports is done on one of the two films, for example, on the inner face of one of them, with the main drawback that only one of the two faces of the 25 flexible supports for the printing of images and/or texts is used, not taking advantage of the second face for the printing of other images and/or texts, for transparency of images reasons.
Explanation of the invention 30 A first procedure according to the invention for printing a flexible support, is applicable to flexible supports of those types made up of two plastic transpar ent films superimposed and stuck together, particularly applicable to packages and is characterized in that it comprises the stages of: printing a first text and/or
- 2 image on the inner face of the first of said two films; applying at least one opaque layer over the first imprinted text and/or image; printing on said opaque layer a second text and/or image; and superimposing and firmly adhering the second transparent film onto the first film, all in such a way that aforementioned first and 5 second texts and/or printed images are arranged between both films and so that the aforementioned opaque layer prevents the first text and/or image from being seen through the second transparent film and also the second text and/or image from being seen through the first transparent film.
10 A second procedure according to the invention for the printing of a flexible support is also applicable to flexible supports of the type made up of two plastic transparent layers superimposed and stuck together, particularly applicable to packages, and characterized in that it comprises the stages of: printing onto the inner face of the first of said two films a first text and/or image; applying at least 15 one opaque layer onto the first printed text and/or image; printing onto the second plastic transparent film a second text and/or image; and superimposing and firmly adhering the second transparent film onto the first film, all in such a way that said first and second printed texts and/or images are arranged between both films and so that the aforementioned opaque layer prevents the first text 20 and/or image from being seen through the second transparent film and also the second text and/or image from being seen through the first transparent film.
According to another feature of the procedures according to the invention, the opaque layer is made up of a white-coloured ink.
It is also a feature of the procedures according to the invention that the opaque layer is made up of an ink with an aluminium-based pigment.
Detailed description of the embodiment example
30 In accordance with the first procedure of the invention the first step is the printing of a first image and/or text onto the inner face of a first plastic transpar ent film, it being possible for the first image and/or text to consist of an imprint of several colours, preferably five colours. Next, onto the first image and/or text a
- 3 white layer is applied serving as an opaque background, which prevents said first
image and/or text being seen from the side corresponding to the second plastic transparent film. Complementarily or alternatively, an opaque layer made up of an ink with an aluminium-based pigment is then applied onto said first text and/or 5 image or onto the white layer. The next step is to proceed to the printing onto the opaque layer, or in other words onto the white layer or onto the opaque layer of ink with aluminium- based pigment of a second image and/or text, the imprint consisting of one or several colours, preferably two colours. Finally, the second transparent plastic film is superimposed and stuck onto the first film, specifically 10 onto the second image and/or text.
With the first procedure according to the invention both the first and second images and/or texts are arranged between the first and second transpar-
ent plastic films forming the flexible support. In addition, the existence of the 15 opaque layer between the first image and/or text and the second image and/or text prevents, due to its being transparent, one or other of both images being seen through the side opposite it. Consequently, the use of both sides of the flexible support is obtained, either as an advertising aid or for any other type of information. According to the second procedure of the invention, the following steps are carried out. Printing a first image and/or text onto the inner face of the first film; the application onto a first image and/or text of a white layer acting as an opaque background; and complementary or alternatively, to the application onto
25 the first image and/or text or layer or white layer of an opaque layer of ink with an aluminium-based pigment, all in a similar way to the embodiment example described earlier corresponding to the first procedure according to the invention.
Unlike the first procedure according to the invention, the next step is to proceed to the printing of the second image and/or text onto the inner face of the second 30 transparent plastic film, using one or more colours, preferably two colours.
Finally, the second film is superimposed and stuck firmly onto the first film, specifically onto the opaque layer.
- 4 By means of the second procedure of the invention similar results to those obtained by way of the first procedure are obtained, namely: the use of the two faces of the flexible support for printing images and/or texts and preventing the viewing of one or other of the first and second images and/or texts from the 5 side of the flexible support which is opposite it.
Claims (4)
1.- Procedure for the printing of a flexible support, of the type made up of 5 two transparent plastic films which are superimposed and stuck together, particularly applicable to packaging, characterized in that it comprises the stages of: -printing onto the inner face of the first of said two films a first text and/or 1 0 image; -applying onto the first printed text and/or image at least one opaque layer; -printing onto said opaque layer a second text and/or image; and -superimposing and firmly adhering the second transparent film onto the 15 first film, all in such a way that said first and second printed texts and/or images are arranged between both films and so that the aforementioned opaque layer prevents the first text and/or image from being seen through the second trans parent film and also the second text and/or image from being seen through the 20 first transparent film.
2.- Procedure for the printing of a flexible support, of the type made up of two transparent plastic films which are superimposed and stuck together, particularly applicable to packaging, characterized in that it comprises the stages 25 of: -printing onto the inner face of the first of said two films a first text and/or image; applying onto the first printed text and/or image at least one opaque 30 layer; printing onto the second transparent plastic film a second text and/or image; and
- 6 - superimposing and firmly sticking the second transparent film onto the first film, all in such a way that said first and second printed texts and/or images are arranged between both films and so that the aforementioned opaque layer 5 prevents the first text and/or image from being seen through the second trans parent film and also the second text and/or image from being seen through the first transparent film.
3.- Procedure according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that 10 the opaque layer is made up of a white-coloured ink.
4.- Procedure according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the opaque layer is made up of an ink with an aluminium-based pigment.
