Abstract

A fly catching device comprising an outer receiving chamber 3 attached to a hollow handle 2, with an inner moveable chamber 4 attached to a rotatable shaft 1 which moves within the hollow handle. The open ends of the receiving chamber and the inner chamber are connected by a tubular net 5. In use the device is placed over the insect, the inner shaft is pushed fully into the outer handle and twisted. The twisting action causes the net to be closed trapping the creature. The insect can then be taken and disposed of, unharmed, outdoors by twisting the inner shaft back, thus releasing the fly.

Description

INSECT CATCHING DEVICE
This invention relates to an Insect Catching Device Existing means of catching or killing flying or crawling insects consists of various types of sticky paper, insect killing aerosol sprays, various types of insect killing devices, various types of insect traps and various types of poisons.
These methods of catching or killing flying or crawling insects are only partially effective or messy, can cause breathing difficulties from the breathing in of aerosol sprays and can be dangerous if poisons are left within reach of some persons. Some persons do not like to kill insects but prefer to capture them and remove them from indoors. According to the present invention there is provided a device that catches flying or crawling insects so that they can be captured and removed, unharmed, from the indoor premises and released to the outdoors.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure I shows: I. In perspective the Insect Catching Device with a fixed, extendable, hollow outer tube 2, an extendable, moveable and rotatable inner shaft I inside the outer tube, a net 5 attached to a fixed, transparent outer receiving part 3 and a moveable, transparent inner receiving part 4 also attached to the net.
2. the inner receiving part 4 is attached to the inner shaft I and the outer receiving part 3 is attached to the outer tube 2 Figure 2 shows in perspective the devotee with the inner tube pushed forward and the net closed.
To use the device the mouth of the outer receiving part is placed, with the net open, over the insect. The inner receiving part and the outer receiving part are transparent in order for the insect to be seen by the operator. The inner shaft, attached to the inner receiving part is pushed forward. The inner shaft is rotated which causes the net to close, cutting offthe escape of the insect. The insect can then be carried in the insect catching device and disposed of, unharmed, outdoors
