Abstract
239,365. Brooks & Co., Ltd., J. B., and Lawrence, A. H. Sept. 17, 1924. Foot-rests for pillion riders of motor-cycles, of the type attached by clips &c. to the horizontal chain-stay so as to project laterally, are provided with improved attaching-means adapted to prevent turning of the clip &c. on the stay, and also with an improved construction of the footrest proper. Two-part triangular clips 4, 5, Figs. 1 and 3, adapted to engage the chain-stay 6 are connected by links 10 to the down-stay 14 or other part of the frame or luggage-carrier. For adjustment purposes, the links 10 pivot on the upper 'bolts 9 of the clips 4, 5, and are secured to the down-stay 14 by clamping-members 15 and bolts 13 adjustable along slots 12 at the upper ends of the links. The foot-rest proper consists of an U-shaped rod 1 fitted with a rubber &c. sleeve 3 engaging a stop-plate 2 at one end. The ends of the arms of the U-shaped rod 1 pass through the clip members 4, 5, their extremities being fitted with nuts 7.
