Abstract

An item of lingerie or swimwear such as a G-string comprises a fabric portion F and a non-fabric string ST,T detachably connected at its opposite ends, e.g. by screw-connectors S. to the fabric portion so as to enable the string to be removed when the fabric portion 'is washed. The string suitably comprises beads on an elastic string which may comprise two or more filaments. The garment may also be a brassiers or bikini top.

Description

ITEM OF LINGERIE OR SWIMWEAR
The present invention relates to an item of lingerie or swimwear, 5 particularly but not exclusively to a G-string.
It has been proposed to make a G-string from a string of beads or the like but there is a risk of the string breaking and also a risk of damaging the beads during washing.
An object of the present invention is to overcome or alleviate one or both lo of the above disadvantages.
In one aspect the invention provides an item of lingerie or swimwear comprising a fabric portion and a non-fabric string detachably connected at opposite ends thereof to the fabric portion.
This has the advantage that the non-fabric string can be removed to Is enable the fabric portion to be washed with other items of clothing in the normal manner. Preferably the item of lingerie or swimwear is in the form of a G-string having a fabric crotch portion and a non-fabric waist string detachably connected at opposite ends thereof to two lateral extremities of the crotch portion, a lower no extremity of the crotch portion being detachably connected to one end of a further non-fabric string portion having its other end connected to a mid-region of the waist string.
Preferably the non-fabric string is elastic. This considerably reduces the risk of breakage.
us In another aspect the invention provides a G-string comprising a crotch portion and an elastic string of beads or the like connected to extremities of the crotch portion and arranged in use to extend around the wearer's body.
The elastic string makes the garment more comfortable and reduces the risk of breakage in use. This risk can be reduced further by utilising a string so comprising two or more elastic strands or filaments.
Preferably the elastic string of beads or the like is connected between a lower extremity of the crotch portion and a mid-region of a waistband.
Preferably the waistband also comprises an elastic string of beads or the like. A preferred embodiment of the invention is described below by way of example only with reference to accompanying drawing, in which: 5 Figure 1 is a rear view of a G-string in accordance with the present invention. Referring to Figure 1, the G-string comprises a fabric crotch portion F which is generally triangular and arranged to cover the groin area, the lower extremity terminating in a groin strap G. The extremity of groin strap G and the to right and left extremities of the fabric crotch portion F are crimped at C to two part screw connectors S. Each of these screw connectors comprises two threadedly engaging parts S1 and S2 joined to an end of a string portion ST and to the fabric crotch portion F respectively. Accordingly, by unscrewing each of the three pairs of screw connector parts S1 and S2 the entire string ST can be Is detached from the fabric crotch portion F to enable the latter to be washed e.g. in a washing machine.
The string portion ST comprises a waist portion W which in use fits around the waist of the wearer and a thong portion T connected to a mid- region of the waist portion which extends between the buttocks of the wearer to the lower 20 extremity of the groin strap G. The string portion ST comprises at least two transparent filaments of 0.8 mm diameter elastic bead and jewellery cord on which beads are strung. The beads are suitably oval or spherical and have a diameter in the range of e.g. 5 to 15 mm In other embodiments, gems or crystals could be used in place of beads, 25 or the string ST or (in accordance with the first aspect) the string portion ST could be a fine chain of e.g. precious metal.
In other embodiments, detachable clasps could be used in place of the screw connectors S and different cords ranging in thickness from e.g. 0.5 mm to 1 mm could be used to string the beads. However, this thickness is not critical.
so The fabric crotch portion F could be made of a synthetic material, particularly in a swimwear variant.
In other embodiments, the item could be in the form of a bikini top or brassiere having strap portions in the fomm of a non-fabric string e.g. a beaded elastic string.

Claims (4)

CLAIMS:
1. An item of lingerie or swimwear comprising a fabric portion and a non-
fabric string detachably connected at opposite ends thereof to the fabric portion.
2. An item of lingerie or swimwear according to claim 1 which is in the form of a G-string having a fabric crotch portion and a non-fabric waist string detachably connected at opposite ends thereof to two lateral extremities of the crotch portion, a lower extremity of the crotch portion being detachably JO connected to one end of a further non-fabric string portion whose other end is connected to a mid-region of the non- fabric waist string.
3. An item of lingerie or swimwear according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the non-fabric string is elastic.
4. An item of lingerie or swimwear substantially as described hereinabove to with reference to the accompanying drawing, Figure 1.
4. An item of lingerie or swimwear according to any preceding claim wherein the non-fabric string comprises two or more elastic strands or filaments.
5. An item of lingerie or swimwear according to any preceding claim wherein 20 the non-fabric string comprises a string of beads or the like.
6. An item of lingerie or swimwear according to any preceding claim wherein the fabric portion and non-fabric string are detachably connected by screw-
threaded connectors.
7. A G-string comprising a crotch portion and an elastic string of beads or the like connected to extremities of the crotch portion and arranged in use to extend around the wearer's body.
s 8. A G-string according to claim 7 wherein the elastic string of beads or the like is connected between a lower extremity of the crotch portion and a mid-
region of a waistband.
10. A G-string according to claim 8 wherein the waistband also comprises an elastic string of beads or the like.
