Abstract
The invention relates to a bending head comprising a hollow pin (2) whose cavity contains a central pin (3) seated adjustably in axial direction but locked against turning around its longitudinal axis, fitted with a bending flange (4) and carrying a control bushing (5) adapted both to share the axial motion of the central pin (3) and to turn around the longitudinal axis of the central pin (3) and of the hollow pin (2), the control bushing (5) being coupled with a drive and carrying a bending body which is together with the bending flange (4) permanently situated in a plane normal (perpendicular) to the longitudinal axis of the central pin (3). The control bushing (5) and the central pin (3) are seated in and on the hollow pin (2) adjustably in the axial direction by a straight motion and the bending head comprises a fixing device of the central pin (3).
Description
a compression spring 552 situated between the pin 551 and the end side of
the !ongitudina! groove 55Q in the bending stone 55. The contra! bushing is in the axia! direction firmly coupled with the central pin 3 so that it shares the straight axial motion of the central pin 3 and of the bending flange 4 in relation to the hollow pin 2 in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3 when the bending means, that is the bending flange 4 and the bending body, move from their rest position to the bending plane and back. During the bending operation proper, the bending plane is normal to the longitudinal axis of the central pin 3 and passes through the centre of the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4 and of the shaped groove 501 of the bending body, i.e., through the area in which the not represented tube undergoes the bending operation. The control bushing 5 is rotatable in relation to the central pin 3 in the direction around the longitudinal axis of the central pin 3. During the rotary motion of the control bushing 5, the central pin 3, and consequently also the bending flange 4, are at rest (not moving) during the bending operation.
The rotary motion of the control bushing 5 around the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3 is provided for by a drive coupled with the control bushing 5 and consisting in the shown embodiment of a hand lever 52 seated on the control bushing 5. During the rotary motion of the control bushing 5, the bending roller 51 eventually the pin 551 of the bending stone 55 moves in a circle around the axis of revolution of the control bushing 5 which coincides with the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3.
The bending head is fitted with a stop device for setting the angular value of rotation of the control bushing 5 around the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3, i.e., for defining the angle size of the bending produced by the motion of the bending body along the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4. In the shown example of embodiment, the stop device consists of a stop surface 53 arranged on the control bushing 5 and of a bar stop 54 adjustably arranged on the hollow pin 2. In a not illustrated example of embodiment, the stop device is made in another suitable manner, for instance by other suitable means which can be in the bending head design arranged in a similar or in a different way.
The bending head is fitted with a fixing device for fixing the axial position of the central pin 3 in the hollow pin 2 at least in the rest position or in the position in the
related bending plane. In the shown example of embodiment. the fixing device is situated at the other end of the contra! pin a, opposite the end of the contra! pin fitted with the bending flange 4, said other end comprising a fixing pin 6 radially adjustable in relation to the hollow pin and with its front end relatable to a pair of fixing holes 33 provided in the radial direction in the central pin 3. The position of one of the fixing holes 33 on the length of the central pin 3 determines the rest position of the bending means while the position of the other of the fixing holes 33 on the length of the central pin 3 determines the position of the bending means situated in the bending plane, see Figs. 1 to 4. In a not represented example of embodiment, the fixing means for fixing the axial position of the central pin 3 in the hollow pin 2 is made in another suitable manner and, as the case may be, with other suitable means. In a not illustrated example of embodiment, the circumference of the bending flange 4 has neither the shaped groove 40 nor the recess 41 but is from the upper end of the bending flange 4 made as a substantially cylindrical surface ended at the lower end of the bending flange 4 by a rounding oriented away from the axis of the bending flange. In this case, the bending flange 4 need not be seated on the central pin 3 rotatably. Fixed seating on the central pin 3 will do because during the motion of the bending means to the bending plane the tube to be bent passes through the gap between the bending roller and the cylindrical part of the circumferential surface of the bending flange 4 as far as the area of bending between the bending means.
The bending head operates as follows. Before the beginning of the working cycle of each bending head, the tube to be bent Is inserted and clamped in a clamping means. The bending means of each bending head is situated in its rest position, and the central pin 3 is locked by the fixing device against undesired motion.
The control bushing 5 with the bending body occupies its basic position, see Fig. 2, and the angular position of the bending flange 4 ensures that the shaped groove 510 of the bending body faces its recess 41 thus increasing the gap between the bending flange and the bending body. The stop device for setting the angular value of rotation of the control bushing 5 around the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3, e., for defining the angular value of the bending to be effected by the motion of the shaped groove 510 of the bending body along the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4, is set to the predetermined required value. In the following step,
the fixing device is released and thus sets the central pin 3 free to carry out straight axial motion in the cavity of the hollow pin by which the contra! pin 3 to9RthRr with the control bushing 5 goes out so that the bending means move from their rest position to their position in the bending plane of their respective bending. The tube to be bent is inserted through the enlarged gap created between the bending flange 4 and the bending body between these two components. In this position, with the bending means situated in the bending plane and the tube to be bent bearing on the support surface 3010 of the bending support 301, the central pin 3 in the hollow pin 2 is again fixed by the fixing device. The bending surface 4 is then turned around the longitudinal axis of the central pin 3 to a position in which its shaped groove 40 faces the shaped groove of the bending body, see Figs. 2 and 5, and thus clamps the tube to be bent between the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4 and the shaped groove 510 of the bending body as shown in Fig. 3. The control bushing 5 is then turned around the longitudinal axis of the hollow pin 2 and of the central pin 3 which makes the shaped groove 510 of the bending body move along the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4 and thus bends the tube on the bending flange 4. After the predetermined angle of the bending has been reached the turning motion of the control bushing 5 is first stopped and then in the same manner resumed in reverse direction until the bending body reaches its initial position. If the bending body is made as a bending roller 51 the whole bending roller 51 moves along the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4 during the rotary motion of the control bushing 5, rolls on the tube being bent and thus turns around its axis of symmetry. If the bending body is made as the bending stone 55 the rotary motion of the control bushing 5 makes the pin 551 move along the shaped groove 40 of the bending flange 4 as shown by the arrow X. Since the pin 551 is seated in the longitudinal groove 550 of the bending stone 55 the pin 551 moves in this longitudinal groove 550 as shown by the arrow Y thus compressing the spring 552 and at the same time gradually making the shaped groove 510 of the bending stone 55 roll on the tube in process of bending while at the same time turning the bending stone 55 around the axis of the pin 551 to the tangential direction relative to the bending flange 4 as shown by the arrow Z. The reverse rotation of the control bushing 5 to its initial position brings the bending stone 55 under the action of the compression spring 552 and the longitudinal groove 550 on the pin 551 back to its initial position shown in Fig. 5. The bending flange 4 is
then turned around the longitudinal axis of the central pin 3 so as to face the bending body with its recess 4, a,,d the bent tube is thus released from its clamping betwve,, the two shaped grooves 40, 510. Then is released the fixing device, and the central pin 3 together with the control bushing carries out an axial straight motion to its initial position in which the bending means take up their rest position.
