Abstract

The door answering service (DAS) is a unit to assist its user in dealing with the way visitors to premises are dealt with. It will help to ensure that DAS users miss no visitors but instead are to either speak to them via telephone link even when absent or on their return and subsequent checking of messages be able to return calls or visits as required it works in similar fashion to a telephone answer machine from the point of view of messages. It also has facilities to connect to video camera, digital camera and garden pager. The system is suitable for a premises occupied by a vulnerable person, who may wish a family member to have control over their door entry from a remote location.

DOOR ANSWERING SERVICE
THE INVENTION RELATES TO AN ANSWERING SERVICEOF SELECTABLE
NATURE, WITH A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT MODES WHICH MAY BE
SELECTED, FOR USE ON MAIN ENTRY DOORS TO ALL KINDS OF DOMESTIC
AND INDUSTRIAL PREMISES.
DOOR ANSWERING SERVICE HEREIN AFTER REFERED TO AS DAS.
DAS IS A SECURITY AND CONVENIENCE DEVICE WITH THE FOLLOWING
AIMS IN MIND,
1. TO TAKE MESSAGES IN THE ABSENCE OF OR AT THE WISH OF
THE USER.
11. TO CONNECT VIA TELEPHONE LINK THE VISITOR TO THE DAS
USER. TO SCREEN VISITORS WITHOUT GIVING CAUSE FOR THEM TO
KNOW YOUR WHEREABOUTS.
iV TO IF REQUIRED PAGE THE USER V. TO RECORD ON VIDEO AND/OR AUDIO AND/OR CAMERA
DETAILS OF/FROM THE VISITOR.
TO ALLOW AN 'AGENT' ViA TELEPHONE TO ANSWER THE DOOR VERBALLY, USEFUL TO THE MORE VULNERABLE USERS,
GIVING PEACE OF MIND AND ADDED SECURITY. FOR EXAMPLE
AN OLD/INFIRM PERSON MAY WISH HIS/HER SON OR
DAUGHTER TO BE AWARE OR IN CONTROL OF THEIR VISITORS,
THIS IS MADE POSSIBLE BY DAS. EVEN THOUGH THESE
OPERATORS' MAY BE SOME MILES AWAY.
Vll. CONNECTION TO A HOUSE ALARM IS POSSIBLE ALL REQUIRED CIRCUITRY WILL BE BUILT IN WITH CAMERAS AND FURTHER
AUXILIARY DEVICES AVAILABLE AS AFTER MARKET PURCHASES. THIS
WILL KEEP THE BASIC ANSWERING DEVICE RELATIVELY CHEAP AND DOES
NOT EXCLUDE CUSTOMERS FROM PURCHASING DUE TO OVER
COMPLEXITY AND THE PRICE CAUSED BY THIS.
THE UNIT WILL BE MADE FROM PLASTIC WITH PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARDS
AND ALL OTHER COMPONENTS CONTAINED WITHIN. ON THE REAR AND
SIDES ALL OUTPUT/INPUT CONNECTIONS WILL BE SITED. THE FRONT OF
( THE UNIT WILL HAVE ALL SWITCHES FOR TURNING ON VARIOUS
FUNCTIONS AND A DISPLAY TO INDICATE MODE AND NUMBER OF
MESSAGES TAKEN, DESIGNED FOR EASE OF USE SO THAT THE
OLDNULNERABLE SHOULD FIND USE STRAIGHT FORWARD AND NOT
PROHIBITIVE. IT WILL BE EITHER FREE STANDING OR WALL MOUNTED, AND
WILL FUNCTION SATISFACTORILY EITHER WAY

Claims (6)

  1. f CLAIM 1) AN AUTOMATIC ANSWERING SYSTEM WITH FACILITIES FOR
    CONNECTION TO VIDEO OR DIGITAL CAMERA. FOR USE ON ENTRY
    DOORS TO PRIVATE AND COMMERCIAL PREMISES.
  2. 2) THE DOOR ANSWERING SERVICE WILL ALSO CONNECT VIA
    TELEPHONE TO OTHER TELEPHONES AT PRE SET NUMBERS,
    SHOULD CONNECTION FAIL IT WILL REVERT TO ANSWERING MODE
    AND RECORD A MESSAGE.
  3. 3) A DOOR BELL IS PROVIDED FOR BASIC USE.
  4. 4) CALLERS MAY BE MONITERED BY DAS USER WITHOUT THE USER
    HAVING ANY PART IN DAS OPERATION IF REQUIRED.
  5. 5) THE VIDEO OR DIGITAL CAMERA WILL RECORD OR DISPLAY ALL
    CALLERS IMAGES IF THIS OPTION IS SELECTED.
  6. 6) A DISCREET LISTENING MODE IS EMPLOYED TO SCREEN VISITORS
    INTENTIONS AS FAR AS POSSIBLE.
