Abstract
An anti-theft bag comprises a bag 1 provided with a strap 3, one end of which is permanently fixed to the bag and the other which is detachably lockable to the bag so that in use the strap may be passed around another object to secure the bag thereto. The bag may further comprise a cable, which may be steel, running through both the strap and the bag so as to prevent the strap being severed or cut away from the bag. The bag may have a zipper closure, the pullers 7 of which may be securable by the same lock as the strap. The lock 5 is preferably a combination lock.

Thef t Proof Bag The invention relates to a bag, the strap of which has a lock built in to its end and locks to the body of the bag, simultaneously immobilizing the bag's zips and locking the bag closed.
Sometimes when on the beach, in a park, in a public house or elsewhere people might like to not always carry their bag with them while engaging in activity. However bag theft is common and people cannot leave their bags unattended for fear of having them stolen.
The object of this invention is to allow people to lock their bag around a beach chair, tree, pole, table or other immovable object. By locking the bag to an object casual theft is prevented and bags can be left unattended. People can do this by placing the strap of the bag around the immovable object and locking it back to the body of the bag using the integrated lock. The bag is thus locked around an object. The bag's zip tabs can also be looped over the lock's base, thus immobilizing the zip when the bag is locked and preventing the bag from being opened when locked.
The invention provides a bag whose strap may be used to lock the bag to an object and lock the bag closed thus preventing casual theft of the bag or its contents.
Preferably the bag is made from a tough fabric which is not easily cut open. The strap should contain a cable within it so the strap cannot be easily cut The cable inside the strap should be steel or another material not easily severable. The lock should be a combination lock so people do not have to take care of keys when leaving their bags. The combination lock should have between 3 and five tumblers numbered from 1-9.

As shown in Figure 1, one end of the lock 5, built into the end of the strap 3, connects to the body of the bag 1, via the base of the lock 6. The zip tabs 7 can loop over the base of the lock 6 so that when the strap 3 is locked to the bag 1 the zip 2 is immobilized. To prevent the strap 3 from being severed there is a cable 4 within the strap 3. The cable 4 runs through the entire bag.
Claims (5)
1. A bag the strap of which has a lock built in to one end and locks to the body of the bag so that the bag may be locked around another object.
2. A bag as claimed in claim 1 where there is a cable running through the centre of the strap and the body of the bag.
3. A bag as claimed in claim 1 where the zip tabs can be looped over the lock so as to immobilise the zip when the strap is locked to the bag.
4. A bag where the strap is locked to the bag by means of a combination lock.
5. A bag substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
