Abstract

A tennis trainer comprises a base consisting of two parallel arms with a cross piece attached to the ends of the arms. A dowel is inserted into the centre of the crosspiece with a tennis ball on a long rubber elastic attached to a swivel on the top of the dowel rod.

This invention relates to an auto-coach tennis trainer.
Other mechanisms with the same objective have a pivot point just above ground level or involve a tennis ball suspended from a framework with a cross piece at 5-6 feet above the ground.
The objective is to improve the tennis ground strokes, both forehand and backhand, footwork and timing of the user.
The main advantage of this apparatus is that the pivot point where the elastic is attached to the top of the vertical dowel is well above ground level so that the ball will rebound at or above the height of a tennis net thereby mimicking a tennis rally more accurately. Other advantages are.
(a) the dowel upright affords additional flexibility.
(b) as the parallel base members are pointing away from the user this results in maximum stability.
(c) ease of assembly and disassembly for storage.
(d) light in weight therefore easily portable.
(e)A reasonably flat ground area of approximately 10 ms x 5ms is all that is required. The construction is of two parallel arms with a crosspiece attached to the arm ends by two bolts and wingnuts.
A dowel is inserted into the centre of the crosspiece with a tennis ball on a long rubber elastic attached to a swivel on the top of the dowel rod.
The stand is made of wood but may be made out of other materials i.e. plastic.

Claims (5)

1. An Auto- Coach tennis trainer with a pivot point approaching the height of a tennis net
2. An Auto-Coach tennis trainer with a 180 degree swivel on the top of the dowel post at the pivot point.
3. An Auto-Coach tennis trainer with a base designed to afford maximum stability.
4.An Auto-Coach tennis trainer that is easily assembled, disassembled, light and portable.
5.An Auto-Coach tennis trainer substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
