Abstract

A device which may be clipped onto the shaft of a club to measure the distance between the ball and the hole in order to determine whether a putt may be conceded. The device comprises one or more arms which may be unfolded or swivelled to the desired length.

PUTT CONCEDER The invention relates to a small, easily storable, lightweight device that engages onto the top of a golf club grip and used to determine whether or not a putt may be conceded or putted out by an opponent in golf.

In the game of golf conceding putts, whether in match-play competitions or friendly non competitive stroke-play games, is an arbitrary decision made by those immediately involved.

In matches where concessionary putts are given, inconsistencies arise as to what length of putt had been given at a previous hole, resulting in debate, loss of time and in some cases, ill feeling between players in golf An object of this invention affords a golfer the convenience of conceding a putt by engaging the device into, or clipping it over, the top of a golf club grip, turn the club round and without bending over or crouching down, quickly determine whether a putt may or may not be conceded to the satisfaction of all concerned.

According to the present invention there is provided a putt conceder device that is small and easy to store, lightweight with arms that swivel out to unfold and attach easily to the top of a golf club grip thus allowing the golfer to use the device without bending over or crouching down unnecessarily to determine whether or not a putt may be conceded or putted out.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which :- Figure 1 shows two views of the device fully folded.

Figure 2 shows the device in position at the top of a golf putter grip.

Figure 3 illustrates the device swivelled out to its full length.

Figure 4 illustrates how the device would be used.

Figure 5 shows two views of the main arms of the device swivelled outwards.

Figure 6 shows an exploded view of how all the separate parts relate to each other.

Figure 7 shows a view and a section of how the device is attached to the top of a golf club grip, in this case a golf putter grip.

Figure 8 shows a view and a section of an alternative method of how the device could attach to the top of a golf club grip, in this case a golf putter grip.

Figure 9 illustrates each position of the device from folded to full length.

I With reference to the drawings, the putt concession device comprises arms 5, 6, 7 and 8 Fig 6 which when assembled using a pivot arrangement 1 and 3,13 and 14,15 and 16 Fig 6 or similar, allows the device to be swivelled out to a distance 12 Fig 4 for use or swivelled in for storage Fig 1 The central pivot similar 1 and 3 Fig 6 has an added extension pin Fig 7 and or a clip Fig 8 to allow for engagement and or attachment to the top of golf club grip. There is also a distance piece 4 Fig 6 which allows the arms to swivel inwards or outwards without fouling against each other.

The device when used in conjunction with a golf club e. g. , golf putter, affords the user the convenience of holding the head of the golf club e. g. , golf putter or similar and use the device to determine the distance a golf ball is away from the hole without bending over or crouching down 9,10, 11 and 12 Fig 4.

The device herein comprises four arms however, two, three or more than four arms could also satisfy the embodiment of this invention.

Although the invention is designed to fulfil all of the above, golfers may choose to introduce a fun element into their game by making use of all positions 21,22, 23 and 24 Fig 9 of the device. In a game where the opponent was a friend then position 24 Fig 9 could be used and if the opponent was a foe, then one of the settings 21,22 or 23 could be used. when determining whether or not a putt may be conceded or putted out

Claims (8)

1. CLAIMS 1. A putt conceder device that is small and easy to store, lightweight with arms that swivel out to unfold and attach easily to the top of a golf club grip thus allowing the golfer to use the device without bending over or crouching down unnecessarily to determine whether or not a putt may be conceded or putted out.
2. 2. A putt conceder device as claimed in Claim 1 where the main arms 5 and 6 Fig 6 are able to swivel about a central axis 3 Fig3 and that the other arms 7 and 8 Fig 6 are able to swivel from the end of the main arms by means of pivot or similar.
3. 3. A putt conceder device as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where the central pivot pin 1 and 3 has an extension of a diameter and length Fig 7 and or clip arrangement fig 8 to tightly fit to the top of a putter grip.

A putt conceder device as claimed in Claim 3 that once the device is attached to the top of a golf club grip e. g. , golf putter grip it is able to stay firmly in position while being used Fig 4 to determine whether or not a putt may be conceded or putted out without inconveniently stooping or bending over.
5. 5. A putt conceder device as claimed in any preceding claim where when not in use is swivelled in to fold Fig 1 and easily stored in a pocket or other place until needed.
6. 6. A putt conceder device as claimed in any preceding claim where all positions 21, 22,23 and 24 may be used to concede putts of varying lengths.
7. 7. A putt conceder device as claimed in any preceding claim except Claim 6 where two, three or more than four arms could be used in the invention.
