Abstract

A restrictor device tor restricting the opening of hinged windows has an arm (11) which is pivotally mounted (15) to a frame mounting plate (16). This arm (11) is pivotally coupled (13) to a second arm (12) releaseably engaged with a pin (23) which is mounted to a locking bar of a multipoint locking arrangement. An operating mechanism connected to the locking bar is restrictable in operation so that the locking bar can only move the pin (23) to a position (23"). Thus as the window sash is opened the arms (11) and (12) articulate to form a restrictor. However, if the operating mechanism is released to move the locking bar further the pin can move to position (23') whereupon pin (23) releases from slot (21) so that unrestricted opening movement of the window can occur.
