Abstract
A sports safety hat comprises a peaked hat, a toughened plastics insert for impact protection, and adjustable interwoven straps to hold the hat on the wearer's head. The toughened plastics insert is placed inside the peaked cap which are secured to each other by velcro <SP>RTM</SP>. The hat is held onto the head with interwoven straps that are attached to the front and the back of each side of the hat. The straps have adjustable plastic clips with a pull/push clasp and are held underneath the wearer's chin. Foam pads may be secured inside the toughened insert for a comfort fit. Bobble hats may be adapted for use with the toughened insert during winter periods.

SPORTS SAFETY HAT The idea stems from observing children and adults riding bicycles without any head protection.
This invention is to provide cyclists with a form of protection and yet still fashionable where as the standard safety cycle hat are bulky and unfashionable.
Provides a form of safety with a fashion aspect.
This invention is a sports safety hat, consisting of a peaked hat with a toughened plastic insert for impact protection, held onto the head with a interwoven straps with adjustable plastic clips, fixed under the chin with a push/pull safety clasp.
Any fashionable head wear example :- Bobble hats can be adapted for use in the colder months.
Fashionable sports safety hat described in the accompanying drawings: Figure I shows the side view of the hat complete with toughened plastic insert and adjustable chin straps.
Figure 2 shows the side view of the peaked sports hat.
Figure 3 shows the toughened plastic insert.
Figure 4 shows adjustable interwoven straps with push/pull safety locking clasp.

As shown in Figure I.
The sports safety hat comprises of a standard peaked hat, type used in sports wear, with a toughened plastic insert for impact protection, . This is held in place by the inner folds of the hat which are secured to the insert by using Velcro tabs.
The interwoven straps are attached to the front and the back on both sides of the hat for maximum stability. These straps are adjustable for security and comfort, with a quick release push pull safety locking clasp. Foam pads are secured inside the toughened insert for a comfort fit.

- CLAIMS 1. The safety hat comprises of three main features, sports peaked hat, toughened moulded insert and adjustable chin straps.
