Abstract
A radiator cover or cabinet or decor panel is suspended upon the radiator (11) itself so that the cover or cabinet or decor panel (10) does not rest upon the floor, does not have to be removed for floor cleaning, does not interfere with floor or carpet patterns and does not have to be cut or profiled to fit against the skirting board (21). The suspension means may be in the form of hooks having location tongues (see Fig 4, not shown).
Description
IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO RADIATOR COVERS OR CABINETS
The invention relates to radiator covers or cabinets or decor panels for use with such radiators of the types in general use within central heating systems generally installed in domestic or commercial premises.
Radiator covers or cabinets are well known but suffer from the disadvantages that they must be removed for floor or carpet cleaning and patterned floors or floor coverings must be designed around the'footprint'of the radiator cover or cabinet or be interrupted and to fit necessarily close to the wall to which the radiator is fixed must be cut to fit closely around the profile of the skirting board frequently requiring the services of an installation operative.
An object of this invention is to provide a radiator cover or cabinet or decor panel which does not interfere with floor cleaning and does not interrupt floor patterns and does not abut the skirting board and requires no installation.
Accordingly this invention provides a radiator cover or cabinet or decor panel which is suspended upon the radiator and does not rest upon the floor.
Preferably the radiator cover or cabinet or decor panel is made of wood or wood substitute plastic material (MDF) with metal fittings and may have a ventilation grill or grills to assist radiation or have no grill or grills and rely solely upon convected warm air rising through a convection vent or from around the open decor panel.
Suspension and location upon the radiator may be by means of suspension hooks attached to
or integrated within the form of the radiator cover or cabinet or decor panel. An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In said drawings : zn Fig 1 is a perspective view of an'open'type A suspended radiator cover or decor panel 10 covering the entire frontal view of a radiator 11 located on a wall above a skirting board 21.
Fig 2 is a perspective view of a'closed'type B suspended radiator cover or cabinet 12 with both end 13 and top panels 14 having radiation vents 15 in the front panel and suspended upon a radiator located on a wall above a skirting board 21 with hand-holds 23 to assist in lifting on and off.
Fig 3 is a perspective view of a'closed'type C suspended radiator cover or cabinet 16 with both end 13 and top panels 14 having a convection vent 17 in the top panel 14 and suspended upon a radiator located upon a wall above a skirting board 21.
Fig 4 is a perspective view of the reverse side of a type A suspended
radiator cover or decor panel 10 located upon a radiator 11 and showing the rear portion of the suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19 resting within the honeycomb section 20 of the radiator to prevent lateral movement of the panel.
Fig 5 is a perspective view of the reverse side of a type B suspended radiator cover or cabinet 12 located upon a radiator 11 and showing the rear portion of the suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19.
Fig 6 is a perspective view of the reverse side of a type C suspended radiator cover or cabinet 16 located upon a radiator 11 and showing the rear portion of the suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19.
Fig 7 is a cross-sectional view of suspended radiator covers type B and C taken as a line V-V in Fig. 2. and showing suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19 resting within the radiator honeycomb section 20 within and affixed to the reverse of the radiator cover or cabinet 12.
Fig 8 is a cross-sectional view of a suspended radiator cover or decor panel z : l type A taken as a line X-X in Fig 1. with the addition of spacers 22 and showing suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19 resting within the radiator honeycomb section 20 affixed to the reverse of the radiator cover or decor panel 10.
Fig 9 is a better illustration of types of suspension hooks 18 with location tongues 19 or with integral spacers 24.
Claims (2)
1. a means of suspension comprising integral or attached hooks enabling radiator covers or cabinets or decor panels to be suspended upon radiators so that the radiator covers or cabinets or decor panels do not rest upon or take any support from the floor.
2. a means of suspension, as claimed in claim 1, wherein hooks are attached to or integrated within the front panel of a radiator cover or the panel of a radiator decor panel with lateral location tongues to prevent sideways movement and at the same time to maintain a distance between the radiator cover or panel and the radiator and the floor beneath the area of the radiator.
Amended claims have been file as follows
What we claim is :1. a means of suspension comprising integral or attached hooks enabling radiator covers or cabinets or decor panels to be suspended upon radiators so that the radiator covers or cabinets or decor panels do not rest upon or take any support from the floor and wherein the hooks are attached to or integrated within the front panel of a radiator cover or the panel of a radiator decor panel with lateral location tongues to prevent sideways movement and at the same time to maintain a distance between the radiator cover or panel and the radiator and the floor beneath the area of the radiator.
