Abstract

The object of this invention is to enable the shaver to assess whether or not a blade needs changing. Most people tend to use both wet and electrical razors depending on circumstance. A wet shave razor blade may be left unused for a considerable period, when the user returns to it they have no way of recording how many times a particular blade has been used. Over-use of a blade can result in cuts, rashes, spots and associated skin complaints, whilst under-use can be annoyingly expensive. The indicators in figures 1 and 3 (ie. The slider 1/1 or rotator 5/3) will enable the user to record each shave and thereby inform them when a blade replacement is due, eliminating both over and under-usage of blades.

Description

BLADE USAGE INDICATOR This invention relates to the use of safety razors. The blades on such razors are changed frequently, or in the case of disposable razors simply thrown away. This invention is a device which will enable the safety razor user to monitor the amount of
shaves he/she has undertaken on any particular blade. t There are two basic designs for the usage indicator, these are dependent on the razor's design for location. Both are described with the accompanying details.
FIGURE 1 shows a safety blade razor with the sliding shave indicator (1) at the lower end of the shaft. The numbers (2) are embossed in a recessed groove alongside the
side of the shaft. The slider (1) has a hole in it so when it is slid up the shaft it exposes a number (2) which will indicate to the shaver how many shaves that particular blade has performed.
FIGURE 2 shows an enlarged dmwing of the slide indicator 1). The grooves (3) in the slider should interlock with the corresponding runners along the inside of the recess in the shaft. A small runner along the underside of the slider (4) should also interlock to expose whichever number is required. After a blade is changed the indicator can be slid back down to zero and the process repeated for a new blade.
FIGURE 3 shows an adaptation of the shave indicator that can be used should a section of the razor be rounded. A numbered dial (5) can be wrapped around this section and clicked into place over the indicator (6) embossed onto the razor itself.
The slider (1) or the rotator (5) can be positioned in such a way on either two or six respectively as to indicate how many shaves a blade has performed, thereby enabling the user to gain maximum effectiveness from their razors.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIMS A blade use indicator that can be incorporated into the basic designs of modern wet razors. A numbered indicator that can record, by means of sliding along the shaft of a razor, the amount of shaves- a blade has performed This task can also be performed by turning a numbered indicator. When a shave has been completed the dial is turned to an indicative arrow on the razor itself thereby recording the amount of shaves for a particular blade- A sliding or turning indicator to be used dependent on the design/location of a particular razor.
