Abstract
237,304. Thorpe, J. W., Bowden, J. A., and Taylor, J. Jan. 29, 1924. Catches yielding to pull and pressure.-A sliding door, window &c. A is held in the open, closed or an intermediate position by means of a spring- pressed roller C carried in a casing I on the door frame B and adapted to engage in one of a number of recesses d<1> in a track D<1> on the outer face of a T-shaped bar J secured to the door, a pair of rollers E<1>, carried on studs e' in lateral extensions i' of the casing I, bearing on tracks F<1> on the underside of the bar J. The roller C may be carried by a spring-pressed rollers c', Fig. 1, or, as described in Specification 237,543, on one end of a pivoted lever c', the other end of which carries a roller c<3> bearing on a spring-pressed plunger c<4>. In the modification, Fig. 10, the bar J<2> is of dovetail cross-section, the rollers E<2> being adapted to bear on the obliquely disposed tracks F. In a further modification, Fig. 13, the rollers E<1> are replaced by fixed surfaces E<3> which engage with tracks F' formed on the underside of the bar J<3>.
