Abstract

237,256. Roelofsz, C. M. July 16, 1924, [Convention date]. Insecticides; fungicides.-A composition to be injected into trees and other plants is prepared by slaking a mixture of quicklime, sulphur, and arsenate of lead with a small quantity of water, adding more water after the slaking reaction has taken place, and straining the mixture to obtain a solution ready for use. The solution may be poured into holes drilled into the trunks of trees and the holes sealed to present evaporation, or may be injected by means of a hypodermic syringe into smaller plants. It is stated that insects attacking the leaves or fruits are destroyed, fungoid diseases prevented, and growth stimulated.
