Wheels.-In a sandpapering or like machine, the sandpaper &c. is wrapped round a drum a, having a groove b to receive the overlapping edges of the paper and is held at the ends of the drum by rings c controlled by springs d secured between the ring and the drum. The rings are initially rotated against the springs and are secured to the drum by pins through registering holes e, f. The paper is then wrapped round the drum with the ends around the rings, and is held by clips g tightened by screws h passing through members i on the drum spindle and engaging one end of the clip. In a modification, cam segments mounted either on the drum or on the rings may be arranged so that as the rings rotate to tighten the paper, they also move axially to keep the tension on the paper constant. One spring- actuated ring only may be used.
